Have asked credit card company for advice and they say that I had to go to the manager of the shop and complain. Was advised by another shop to leave the camera and the credit card company could get money back but I knew this was stupid as I would not have had any proof that I had left it there. The credit card company confirmed this. I was told there was not much they could do. Do you have any knowledge of what they may be able to do as I do not know much about any action they could take as they were not very helpful to me.

I have complained initially to the consumer services and they gave me much the same advice as the credit card company that I do not have any legal rights to my money back and can be charged any price the seller wants to ask for.

I will be asking the credit card company for the name of the owner and explaining things and hope that the owner is more sympthetic. There should be a security video in the store which I will highlighting to the which should show the way the way the transaction was carried out. I hope this may persuade them that the way the salesman conned me into signing the transaction. I have also sent a written complaint again to the consumer services.

007, Please make a complaint to the BBB. Even if you don't get your money back you will have put the store on notice of the fact that the BBB has a complaint. And if they have others against the same store for the same thing the BBB will take some type of action against them. Charging whatever price they wish is one thing but swindling you is another. You need to make this point to the consumer services and the BBB. And please by all means inform them of the fact that you are from SCOTLAND. The US frowns upon tourist being taken advantage of. You might want to check with your Consoliate Generals Office also, if they can't help, they can give you the information of which government agency will. GOOD LUCK
    Karen
