I was in FL mid Jan last year...we had about 2 coldish days...45 degrees....this year becuse of the weather pattern FL has been a bit colder than it would be and maybe a bit wetter...I thinking that I may pack a few more thick clothes this Jan than normal....

I've never paid for an upgrade yet...I just book the cheapest car which never seems to be on the lot....I had a nice HHR a few weeks ago nice small SUV...thinking about buying one....

Normally the eve is a little cool and requires some pool heat, daytime is normally very pleasant and when we went in Dec a few years ago had some nice weather.

Last year at the end of January, beginning of February we had mixed weather, some days were hot and others were quite cold for Florida. Evenings definitely quite chilly, coats needed when you were outside.

Regarding getting a car hire upgrade, just smile and ask politely if there is any way you could get a free upgrade....always seems to work! I was chatting to someone on a car hire desk once and she said she always prefers people to come straight out with it and ask rather than giving the car hire people a load of waffle about being regular customers, birthdays etc.

January last year was (according to the locals I spoke to) a little warmer than usual, then cooled down in February (while we were there). Still warm enough for tee shirts and shorts during the day though.

Evenings can be quite chilly, fleeces and trousers required.

    Hi Maisy,

The weather seems to be a little more unpredictable like everywhere else but we found last January well into the 70s by day but needed a jacket or fleece in the evenings.
Hoping for the same this year -we go out on 5th January!

Sure you'll have a great holiday and it will certainly be warmer than the U.K.

As for car upgrades - be bold - just ask on arrival!
