    Park Drop-Off Before Parking?

    Hi all,

Excitement for our Easter trip to Orlando is reaching fever pitch now, but there are a few niggling issues I'd like to try and resolve before we leave.

The main one is that I'll be taking my dad along on this trip (and renting him an ECV). I remember the long walk between the car parks to Disney & Universal and the parks themselves and I'd prefer that he not be subjected to it. Also there will be some very young family members coming along.

Could I drop-off my passengers before parking? Is there somewhere specific I should go, or just the farthest end of the car park?

    ... Boy, I'm excited! [msntongue]

if you have a blue badge it is recognised in florida and we had no problems using ours to park closer to the entrance in a disabled parking bay, we showed ours to the gate staff and parking attendants and they directed us from there

it doesn't get you right next to the entrance just a little closer

the above was for disney car parks, we never visited universal

I found when I took my 85 year old mother-in-law (who didn't have a disability badge, but was having trouble walking at the time) that as long as I mentioned it to the person who takes the parking money, he/she would let me park in the disabled section of each park. When you drive up towards the actual parking you also have to mention the problem to the person who waves you towards the space and he/she will park you as close as possible to the parks.

If they have stopped this system then just tell the person who takes your money that you need to drop off first and will then come back round for a parking space. I have always found them to be very accommodating though. If you ask then you usually get with both Disney and Universal.[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

My wife injured her leg when we were out last summer and was on crutches.

As Carla says, just ask at the Gate, and they are very helpful. At Universal they have a system where you can hire a wheelchair from the hub the car parks link to, and then upgrade to an Electric Vehicle at the Park you want to visit. You then do the reverse on the way out. They do get taken quickly, so if you are not going early you can book in advance through guest services.

Stores like Wal Mart and Target also have ECV's available for free use.

When we went I dropped our lot off where the shuttle "train" stopped and then parked up (saved them a long walk.)

When my parents took my uncle (who is too proud to have a disabled badge) they just told the people directing traffic and had no problems

Universal as a seperate place to drop off guests, you can then park your car.

Although universal does have plenty of moving walkways to reduce the distance.

SeaWorld is also quite easy to drop off your guests then park up.

As others have said, it is always worth while asking at the Kiosk on approach to the parks.
