Ordering from Amazon.com in the US

Hello all,

Just curious as to whether or not it is possible to place an order with Amazon.com online with a UK credit card and have it delivered to your accommodation while on holiday?

There's a few things that are really cheap on the US site, and seeing as I may be in the US soon, I figure it's worth a try.

Hi Tony,

It certainly is. It's one of my favourite passtimes when over in Florida.

The only thing I would mention would be to watch the despatch and delivery estimates. We've occasionally had things take a week or even longer when shipped by ground transportation. If your order takes a couple of days to despatch on top of that you can start getting up towards two weeks from the point you order to the point the goodies arrive.

We have used amazom.com many times now and have the goods delivered to our MC.

We get the books or whatever delivered to the villa, and have never had a problem. Amazon.com has a very good tracking system, so you can check online where your stuff has got to (i.e. which airport it's sitting in).

Not a bad idea to order a few days before you arrive in the villa, to be sure that it will arrive when you are there.

That is a very good point. You are almost saving 7% just by ordering from amazon (Due to zero sales tax) as they prices are as good as the local shop and sometimes even cheaper.

We made use of Amazon in the busy few days before Christmas and delivery was very quick - I am sure you won't have any problems

the post to our villa was suspended when we we're over last time so was only receiving adverts in the mail box

can this be a regular thing ?

can this be a regular thing ?[/quote]Lots of villas don't have mail facilities at all Tezz, like ours, as the Post Office refuses to deliver anything. Parcels that don't come by mail but by courier are OK for delivery there though.

If we have guests who want mail delivered, I tell them to get it sent to our management company address and then they can pick it up from there.
