We used peanut butter in 'live' traps, but that was in the green house, don't think I would be so forgiving indoors. They can come through the tiniest slit. I'm sure the council man will get you sorted

we've been in the same position Julie and it's because of where we live, fields all around us and the rabbits scattering food out of their hutch certainly doesn't help, the pest man will sort you out
ours recommended we get a sonic pest control thingie? from argos or b&q that sends a signal/noise (silent to humans)that will keep the little blighters away and we've had no signs since
they are persistant little bu**ers so maybe a new cat would be a good idea too
good luck

we had field mice in many years ago, they run along the cavity wall, we had the rat man out, only found them as there was an awful smell under the bath, one had died under there, look aroiund the pipworks and you will see if any fllorcoverings are nibbled out rather then dropped inwards, we filled the holes with cement and put mouse poisens down and caught sveeral and through them in a tin (took lid off) over the back but they came back, Steve caught them running zig zag upstairs one night and chucked it out tha bathroom window, didnt know where else to put it, anyway rat man cleared them with poisen! all gone................fingers crossed, now Mollie does it for us!

Get a cat Julie ,we live near fields and a stream ,we don't have any problems at all but we have got four cats ,we are always finding dead mice and sometimes water rats better dead in the garden than running about in the house[msnoo]

We had little field mice coming into our home a few years ago. It is amazing how they can squeeze through the tiniest little gap![msnmad] We had the council lay some traps but it didnt solve the problem. In the end we got a cat and that seems to have done the trick[msnsmile]. Now the only mice we see are the dead ones that our cat brings to us as presents[msneek].
Good luck!

Exactly Kazzie I just used to find dead ones that our cat had left for me in the utility room, thinking we may need a kitten - children would be sooooooooo pleased[msnwink]

This is the little one I found back in the summer down by the deck........
Very cute but I don't want them in my kitchen[msnwink]
We have a pest control man lives near us and we had mice in our attic. He gave me some traps and said they love chocolate,so we baited the traps with the chocolate ,which they loved, but the traps didnt love them,i hope you get rid of them soon as they can chew into all your wiring as well[msnmad]

This is one of my worries Kitty as we have a full surround sound set up and an Apple computer in the family room[msnscared]
Years ago we had some juggling balls and one day found a ball chewed open and some of the little wheat type bits missing. My daughter had a dolls house and opened it to play and a wee mouse tootals down the stairs and across the room. The missing bits from the juggling ball were in a corner in the dolls house!
We got pest control in rather than sort it ourselves.
I wouldn't get a cat as we have had no end of mice in that the cat has brought in! She doesn't kill them normally and we find them hiding in corners looking petrified and so can easily get them out - they are usually baby field mice, quite cute really!
