I heard back from the owner within a few minutes of emailing, and believe the owner received no contact from the rentor either by email, post or by phone. We can only assume there is an email problem (I know this owner and have no reason to believe otherwise).

The owner will be contacting the guest this afternoon.

I'll try and contact them again but i'm sure its not a mistake. I've tried contacting him on 2 different email servers and never had a problem before.

However i will try again and report back.

Still no reply to my next 3 emails. Strange that he replies to you but not me.

Maybe you could send me a pm or your email address and you can send him my letter.

I find it hard to believe that my 3 email addresses aren't getting mail through (all on different servers) I could be wrong though.

The owner has said he would contact you today, but I got he impression it would not be immeditely as perhaps they were going out. They also mentioned you have their number, so I guess you could always try calling them.

Just to keep everyone updated on this matter. I finally got a reply from the owner.

He said that he got 2 callout charges because i forgot to put the spare key in the lockbox. This is true becuase I arrived at about 1.00am and had to leave again at 7.00am. The last thing I thought of wa the lockbox key.

I was charged $45 for the first callout when no work could be carried out because of the lack of key. i have accepted that this was my fault and offered to pay the fee.

The other charge for the broken shower handle was $95. i have been told that the plunber said it could well of been wear and tear that caused it to break. However because it wasn't a 100% chance of wear and tear the renter has decided to charge me 505 of the charge.

The lack of pool heating for the first 2 days has been ignored however and I have been given no refund for this.

Because I said I was not happy with only a 50% refund on the charge for the broken shower and no refund for no pool heating for 2 days i'm being ignored.

I have sent 3 emails during the last few days and no reply.

    What do you think ?

I have been charged for a broken shower which probably wasn't my fault and receved no refund for the pool heating which wasn't switched on for 2 days.

    Is this fair ?

Hi Mark it does sound as if you have not had a very fair deal here. Can you ring the owner as sometimes it is better to discuss than email, or is he not answering?
It is always difficult when you don't have both sides of a story but as a guest I would say you should be reimbursed for the two days of non heat.

Please contact Roger and I am sure he will try to intervene for you again.

The vast majority of us on here value guests and would I am sure take better care of you, I hope it would not stop you using the forum in the future for holidays

I feel that you deserve a refund for the pool heat charge for 2 days and also you should be credited for the shower handle. Maybe the owner isn't ignoring your e-mails but just hasn't read them yet. He could be away. I really hope this gets worked out to your satisfaction. Do keep us posted!

He has replied and said that i will not receive any refund for the lack of pool heating or more that the original 50% of the repair bill for the shower handle.

This refund is £26 of the £80 I was charged.

What should i do now ? No refund for pool heating and only a percentage of the repair bill. Doesn't seem fair to me.

This is a villa owner from this board and as a former villa owner who advertized on this board i feel he's getting everyone a bad name.

    I await peoples opinions.

As others have said, it is very hard for us to comment, without hearing both sides. I would agree that if the pool heat was not switched on for you, then you shouldn't pay for it. However, the owner has no control over the weather and it can take a while for a pool to heat up, especially if the evenings/days were cool and more so if a pool cover wasn't used day and night when you weren't in it. So was it switched on, but just not warm enough?
