    cheap flights or not

WE fly off on the 13th of Jan and have booked flights and car hire with Travel city direct to Sanford 2 adults 2 children cost £1000

I have read many articles on this page and favorite airline seems to be Virgin but costs alot more than above am i missing somthing not going Virgin or have i just been lucky with price

I am now pricing for jan 2008 and fares have definatley gone up but TCD still quotes £1400 for same this is still cheaper than Virgin 2008

cant work out to book flights early or last min to get best deals for jan flights

Sounds like you got an excellent price. I cannot comment on Travelcity as we have never flown with them but I do like Virgin.

As for booking last minute or well in advance, there are advantages and disadvantages with both. I personally like to book everything early. I don't like to leave it too late in case I cannot get the flights I want. Sometimes you can book a Virgin flight for less than £300 a few weeks before departure but I think that it would still come to more than £1000, for the four of you, as that does not include car hire.

We flew with Travel City last year-a 747 from Manchester. the only downside really was that they obviously fill it to keep the prices down and that leads to queues at immigration but that is nothing to do with the airline really just that it's a big plane-anyway the staff, food, service etc were fine.
I think that the comparison comes on the villas because with TC you get no say really whereas obviously with this site you choose.

I've heard contradictorary thing s on this subject many times in the past, the general consensus is book late, but then you run the risk of not getting a flight.

I have a look at the firstchoice website about 2 months before I want to travel and keep looking until the price has gone down to just over 200 pounds then I book it. They only fly Sats into Sanford from Gatwick and you can only get 2 weeks or 1 week but thats often OK for us.
Recently March 10th was 224 inc taxes etc, sems pretty resonable with the new taxes, we have found the flights to be OK, comfy, food ok and if we book as single travellers we seem to get more than the occasional free upgrade.
Anything longer than 2 weeks its virgin or ba for direct flights or NWA for cheaper but change in Detroit, takes much longer.

First choice fly out of Manchester aswell into Sanford, hubby has just come back from Florida he got the flight for £220, he said in his opinion it was better than Virgin loads of leg room wide leather seats and touch screen t.v's with games.
