we used Atlas last year, they were very good but very long winded when using for my gallbladder episode!! you must make sure you have the papers where you or any member of your party can find them, i for the first time put them in my suitcase not expecting to fall ill, but when landing at sanford was taken ill and went to hospital by paramedics, hubby took the rest of the party to the villa and brought what he thought i needed, wrong!! they almost held me to ransom but we siad we would take the nessecary paperwork to them when i was better, reluctant to let me go but they did, took photocopies of passports and let us go home after a 5 hour stay, spoke to Atlas and they said leave it all with them, we did but was hounded for over 4 months for $4,000 i had letters for xrays/scans, ride to the hospital with paramedics, treatment etc etc, still its paid now and we have learnt, it stays in MY bag then i will know where to find it!!!

so lesson learnt is take travel insurance with you wherever you go you never know where you may just need it!

Not used them but persomally stick with eiother Amex of Europ Assistance, who are both excellent and give minimum fuss when claiming.

If you are paying/have paid for your trip on your Mastercard or Visa it could be you are already covered as they often have insurance as part of their services.
I know I have on my MC - worth looking into as there is no point paying twice !!

i think the general rule is to check the level of cover they are offering against the amount of the premium and to bear in mind that any medical cover needs to be extremely high

if you have a pre existing medical condition you need to declare it before purchasing the insurance

i'm using direct travel and have an annual policy for my husband and children but for myself i need specialist cover for which i use a company called freespirit

it's also worth checking if you have any holiday cover from your credit card provider

We have used Atlas for the last couple of years, but, fortunately cannot comment regarding claiming from them as we have so far been lucky not to have made a claim.

They usually only give you minimum cover, so check exactly what the coverage is. Also all of the trip has to be paid on the card not just part of it.
