    Charity Beers

For anyone living around Manchester (the north-west side) why not join us towards the end of January at a beer festival I help organise to raise money for charity.

The dates for our 2007 event are Thursday 25 January - Saturday 27 January.

Full details and all the opening times are on our website: www.bentnbongs.com

It's quite a big event. We usually have a few thousand people through the door over the three days, which leads to us raising around £15k - £20k for local charities and other worthwhile causes. Our main beneficiary for January 2007 is the Children's Ward at Wigan Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.

Our theme for 2007 is New Beers, so why not get your year off to a good start by trying one or two? A number of people from the forums have been to the festival in the past and everyone has enjoyed it, although some did take a day or two to remember [msnwink] It's a great way to deal with those post Christmas blues. There aren't many places you can support a good cause by drinking a few good beers but we are proud to be one of them, if indeed the only one!!

If enough people are coming over on the same night or afternoon I can do my best to organise a table for you all and we can carve out a small part of the hall that will be forever Florida. If 10 or more of you want to get together (not necessarily on the same night) I can organise a sponsorship package for you which includes admission and some beer and food. Some traditions are worth upholding, but until then some are worth starting. This could be one of them.

But don't just take my word for it. To quote David Daye; If God had intended us to drink beer, He would have given us stomachs.

Looks like a definate for me. My friend and I have recently discovered "real ales" after years of being Stella drinkers (light I might add!)

If I enjoy it, I might even grow a fluffy beard and watch trains go by [msnwink]

Liesa, yes this is the one we do every year. It's a shame you can't make it.

Mark, LOL! You'll be surprised how few beards and parkas there are, not that there is anything wrong with a beard and parka! We are trying to get some Paulaner again this year. Swing by my bar and I'll sort you out with a few tastes of premier league beers that will relegate Stella down a couple of divisions.

I hope we catch up with Maggie again Lynne. I didn't see her last year. No getting tiddly this year!! Ahem! As if? [msnwink]

For all the members of the OV Slimming Club you will also be pleased to know that all our beers have no calories in them whatsoever. Absolutely none. I know it's hard to believe but it means you can drink as many of them as you like. The sausages are the same too. I know! I was skeptical at first as well but it's true. Not a single calorie between them all. [msnsmile2][msnsmile2][msnwink]

It's always nice to experience large quantities of beer, and what an experience the last hour has been. I've just ordered:
1730 litres of draught lager (just over 3000 pints)
58 crates of assorted bottled beers (about 1,300 bottles in total)
32 crates of various fruit beers (just over 230 bottles)
    and
3 crates of alcohol free beer (we try to be responsible!!) [msnsmile]

Karen, we have Cranberry beer again this year. As we all know Cranberries are excellent antioxidents and free-radical scavengers. Forget health-food, we've discovered health-beer!! [msnsmile][msnsmile]
