    Severe Weather Warnings???...and Florida Flu

Saturday the kids saw the kids on a Disney high and they started to suffer withdrawal symptoms as we told them they had to suffer a day away from the parks.[msncry]...and we did a little more shopping instead[msnwink]. We got some right bargains. There were some pre-sales on at Beals and other shops so we got in there with our american friends and snapped up some pre-thanksgiving bargains. My niece was in her element trying on beautiful dresses and clothes and my Mum snapped up a party dress, denim skirt, Bratz doll $9.00, plus clothes for the grandchildren at home for less than £30.

After much deliberation and soul searching we decided to let our son purchase the heeleys he has been desperate for.[msnscared][msneek][msnscared]very difficult decision as he has mobility problems and we've spent many hours in the casualty department with him BUT we've got to try and let him have the same opportunities as other kids. He also has visual problems so you can imagine we are having chickens at the prospect of him on these heeleys. He was over the moon [clap][clap][clap]and I was a nervous wreck.[msnembarrased]

The Malls were very crowded and I think on our next trip (did I just say our next trip[msnwink]I must remember to tell hubby I'm thinking of our next trip)we'll stick to weekdays for the malls.

That evening we experienced our first major disappointment with Florida. We went to Old Town and I'm sorry to report that we felt really uncomfortable. I don't know if it was due to the lateness of the hour or the fact that a lot of the people we came across had been drinking heavily but it wasn't a pleasent experience this visit. My daughter attracted a lot of attention from a group of males and we decided to leave early.

...Sunday morning dawned bright and clear despite onimous warnings from the weather reports and we were in two minds what to do. Whether to go back to Typhoon Lagoon before the weather cooled or whether to go horse riding. After much beguiling, pleading, begging and generally hassling the rest of the party, they agreed to allow me on horseback. I must confess this was a little selfish of me and I certainly won't be telling my hospital consultant because they would probably skin me alive but...I was desperate.

As a child I had a lot of experience of riding and it's one of my fondest childhood pasttimes, especially jumping and galloping...but I haven't been on horseback for over 20 years and I must have had going on for 20 operations so it wasn't a decision to be taken lightly. I knew it would probably aggravate my scars[msnscared]but it was worth it[clap][clap][clap] We did the easy option just a walk around the trail, the american style of riding is vastly different to the British but just being on horseback was worth the aggravation. I couldn't stand up at the end of the ride but it was worth it. I loved every single minute...even though I didn't manage so much as a small trot.

Having been selfish and enjoyed my experience my body decided to pay back my brain and knock me up and put me out of action for a while. So I spent Sunday evening in some kind of dizzy disorientation and have vague recollections of a group of people around the bed. By morning my BP was still low but I was determined to enjoy every available minute of our holiday and we decided to take it easy and have a visit back to MGM where I could sit and watch the shows whilst the more adventurous of the party participated in the rides.

Having spent a number of hours vertically challenged, ie not being able to stand up, I had been flicking channels and smiling at the severe weather warnings being issued. Local stations had also been advising the locals to make sure they had their flu shots before the severe weather took hold. It was headline news that bus drivers had to start work early to heat up the buses before collecting children on the school run...and danger warnings were issued, anyone feeling cold enough to use a heater please ensure it is not placed close enough to furniture to be a fire hazard. We did
