Tuesday saw the cobwebs blown off and the credit cards dusted down as we hit the malls. We must have been eager as we arrived at the Loop before it opened. We weren't here long before going to the Florida Mall. We bought a few bits and pieces before getting down to business and going to the Mall at Millenia. This place can do some serious damage to your finances particularly when you have a teenage daughter obssessed with all things Chanel. We managed to steer her out of the shop and to add to her Chanel make up collection at Bloomies instead.
Why is it when you come to the states you are armed with a list of "wants" from family and friends back home. My Mum had been asked to call at a little supermarket on I Drive to pick up some Buffalo sauce for a work colleague. I had explained prior to our trip that driving down I Drive looking for a little supermarket wouldn't be like looking for the local branch of Tesco's but my Mum didn't want to disappoint the person at work. So off we set as this person had stipulated it MUST be bought on I Drive and a bottle off the shelf in Walmarts just wouldn't do! Horror of horrors, there were three brands to choose from, so she had to buy a bottle of each.
Later that evening we dined out at Carrabbas once more as hubby can eat a nice dessert here which is a rarity and watching the rest of us continually stuff our faces must be torture.[msnembarrased]
The following day saw another trip back to Typhoon Lagoon for rest and relaxation. Did I say rest and relaxation. I relaxed, my daughter took my Mum on Crush n Gusher. She's still recovering now. I don't know who was the most shocked[msnoo] My Mum or me, I still can't believe it. Apparently it was a sight for sore eyes when they hit the bottom of the chute and my Mum lay there in a state of utter paralysis screaming for her dear darling granddaughter to tow her into the side. Of course dear darling granddaughter couldn't do anything for laughing[laugh][laugh][laugh].
Thursday we had our first visit to the Animal Kingdom, to be honest we haven't bothered with this park before but decided to check it out this trip as I'm supposed to be taking things a little easy. I watched with envy as hubby and kids went on Expedition Everest filming just about every carriage that came down but theirs[confused][msnembarrased]
We dined at Boma's after our visit. The Chef came to our table to show hubby exactly what he could eat and offered to cook him anything he wanted should he not see anything he liked. It made a nice change to have a little bit of variety and we hadn't been inside the animal kingdom lodge before.
Friday we stocked up on a few bargains at the Osceola Mall before going to MGM. There was some very popular famous American all girl band on. There were kids screaming and crying as we stood about looking non-plussed and trying to work out what all the fuss was about. I'd love to know who they were, they certainly had a lot of security holding off the screaming fans.
The shows were as good as ever, Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones, Lights, Camera Action etc and we were able to order gluten free pizza from The Pizza Planet, not the best tasting pizza in the world but GF and that's what counts. It's nice to be able to walk up to a counter service and put in an order.
I couldn't wait to see my Mum's face when she came around the corner and saw the Osborne Christmas Lights, it really was spectacular and although a very cold evening, particularly when it snowed[msnwink] we spent quite a while here before heading off to Epcot to catch the evening fireworks.
