Airmiles

Quite happy with the flights we have booked today. Virgin Manchester-Orlando 21st April for 14 nights, 4100 airmiles & £126 each taxes etc.

How does that work?

I thought you needed 50,000 miles for a flight to Orlando( + tax and supplements)

I'm not that familiar with Virgin's scheme but don't you accumulate 4100 miles in a single transatlantic crossing? If so, that's a very good deal.

Not Virgin Miles, Airmiles as in BA/Tesco card/Natwest credit card/Shell etc. I don't know how many Virgin miles are required but usually, Airmiles are 8,500 to 9,000 for Orlando, if you can get it. They also require New York, Chicago or Newark changeovers. This is the first time I have seen them for 4,100 and with Virgin, snapped their hand off!

Even more confused now.

BA require 60,000 miles for an economy flight to Orlando(+taxes etc)
They even require 9,000 for London - Paris.

BA are part of the One World Alliance with AA/Iberia/Aer Lingus/Cathay Pacific and a number of other airlines. BA miles are interchangeable with all these airline frequent flyer programs on most routes.

I am certain 4,000 BA miles would not get you on any Virgin flight. If it were I have enough in my account for 62 return flights to the USA.

last night ba quoted me 50000 miles per adult return to orlando that is either to fly economony and upgrade using miles to world traveller plus or just to buy economy tickets and 10% of an adult price for an infant then pay cash for the taxes.
economy tickets currently at 656.60 or 926 pe + taxes of course not sure if I will use my miles or not I dont know what I am saving them up for, maybe to one day fly first....

A while ago, BA dropped part of their agreement with Airmiles and began to offer BA Miles. These accrue at approximately 10-1 against Airmiles. Do a search on google for airmiles, you'll find it easily.
