Thread: OV Slimming Club Part 4!

Well, here goes again.......... Realy sorry have not been around lately. Too much going on at home and not very motivated![msnsad] Luckily, I have stayed the same, which I am very pleased with as I have not been following any healthy eating programme. I did put on a lb but it seems to have disappeared. I am off to stay in our Villa Friday, (weather permitting, hope the forecasted snow doesnt cause too much disruptions), for 2 weeks and will try not to go too OTT with the eating.

Feeling really sad to be having to leave our lovely Lily in the kennels as she is only 8 months old, but have walked her past the kennels several times in the last few weeks and she has had a good look around inside yesterday[msnsmile][msnscared].

Welcome to all the newbies and well done to everybody else, you all seem to be doing so well[clap]

I promise that when I return that I will try a bit harder to contribute and will look for a class that fits in with dd's activities.

I will keep my Easter target the same for now, 7lbs, but that may be a bit optimistic[msneek]

Good luck to all for the next 2 weeks, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the stuffed peppers recipe Mizzy, I'll be giving that a try[msntongue]

The only guy at our club brought in a black bean sauce he had made today, it was delicious, I'll be trying that too.[msnsmile2]

Marie's views on why you should use those syns

think you could miss out the syns and lose weight quicker? YES then think again, the answer to this one is a resounding NO!!!!!!

the science part first is that eating a variety of foods kicks the metabolism into action and helps us burn fat and lose weight, depriving yourself of foods and limiting to the extreme has the opposite effect and actively encourages the body to store fat for what it thinks is a famine ahead

syns are there for a reason, imagine every other diet you've been on where certain foods are forbidden[msnscared] and imagine your life, long term without the odd chocolate, glass of wine, ice cream etc, etc, now ask yourself truthfully if you where told at the begining, no chocolate or wine (or your favourite must have food) is allowed at all, would you feel positive that you can follow a diet where foods are banned and still reach target and the biggie question is could you maintain a lifestyle to keep you at target without your favourite foods?

being the "weigh in" lady at class i've heard it all and i have come across many a person who thinks that by not eating syns they are actually going to lose weight faster and reach that target quicker, yes i admit you can do this for a few weeks and i've seen it done but i've also seen the same ladies a few weeks further along totally miserable and thinking of quitting because they cannot resist the foods they have seen as being bad for them and have been trying to exclude to the point where they are obsessed by the item, it's easy to say "i'm not eating ___________? anymore" but reality is that by saying and doing this you set yourself up to fail[msnsad]

everyone needs to feel in control and not feel a failure for having the odd glass of wine or bar of chocolate and that's where those syns come in to play, they are there for a reason, they help us stay in control and take away those forbidden, obsessive messages that can easily begin to control how we feel around food, we have the choice to choose and if you want to eat something others may see as naughty then that's why SW called them syns, it was their tongue in cheek way of saying yes, yes, yes i can eat this and still lose weight[msntongue][msnsmile2]

having the feedom to choose is a wonderful feeling and most certainly the key to long term success

i think that is great mizzy, we put ourselves under so much pressure to get the weight off and it ends up working in reverse because we give up on our plan,i made a promise about 2 years ago that i would never stop going to SW and im not bothered how long it takes to lose weight i will continue to go, and when events come along, holidays and christmas, etc i make the best choices i can but if i eat more than i should, SO WHAT, i will get over it, and consequently in the last 12 months both on holiday and christmas my weight gains at those times have been less, than ive ever put on before. the only time i get dispondant is when know i have had an excellent week and i feel i deserve to lose and i dont. but i just talk to myself and start over again the next day here is me rambling again i dont know when to stop do i pat

Yes it doesn't look much does it. I was feeling really bloated yesterday because mu period is very late so couldn't manage much. I must admit I did get hungry in the evening so had a hi fi bar.

It's weigh day today, and after gorging at the weekend, I'm pretty confident I'll see at least a 1lb loss tonight. I'm hoping I can hit the 1 stone mark tonight, which should be helped by the fact that I'm playing an hour of football before I get weighed.

    Fingers crossed!![msnsmile2]
