well if easter is in april i wana lose 2 stone or atlease 1 and 1/2 stone by then......might sound daft but my target is 4lb a week i wana lose
    [/quote]

Paul, I know you want to lose 4lbs per week but its too much, unhealthy and unrealistic honestly, 2lbs a week is perfect and it will stay off - if you lose more than that on a regular basis its not fat you are losing but muscle and water[msnwink]

So I have put you down for 1.5 stones[msnwink]

Judy, I did not have time to sit down and welcome you properly yesterday but I want to echo Mizzys comments to you.

Well done on starting to lose 5 stone, you have taken the first very important step[clap][clap][clap] and you should be very proud of yourself[clap][clap][clap]

There are many plans on the market but please don't start on a 'diet' that you can't sustain, to lose that amount of weight as Mizzy points out you need to be able to do it long term so it becomes a lifestyle change. I myself have tried them all, RC GI, South Beach, Atkins, WW, Cambridge, Slim Fast, pills and potions but Slimming World is this only plan I have been able to do long term and I started 11 months ago and have lost 2 stones so far, I would eventually like to lose another 7-14 lbs over the next year (depending on how the weight suits me). I know we have had some complaints from some slient readers of this thread that its all SW now but that was not the case when we started the thread 2 years ago, but it has proven to be the most successful so gradually we have all converted to the plan with great successes.

So I have copied this page from the SW web site to give you and idea of how it works............

Diet? Why? If you ever read a newspaper or switch on the TV, you’ll know that the UK is in the middle of, what the media have termed, an ‘obesity crisis’. So it’s no wonder that the bookshops are filled with diet titles and slimming magazines, and every celebrity is endorsing their ‘rabbit food’ diet plans!

At Slimming World, DIET is a four letter word! And if you’ve had your fill of these “off and on eating regimes”, if you’re fed up of going to bed early because you’re hungry - and if you never want to think ‘dare I eat that’ ever again - you’ve come to the right place!

    Forget calorie counting
    Forget deprivation and hunger
Forget the strict rules and regulations of past diets
Forget completely any previous dieting dos and don'ts - they'll only get in your way.
Forget diet pills that interfere with your body and your mind’s natural, healthy functions.
Embrace completely the freedom, flexibility and generosity of Food Optimising!

The stroke of genius behind Food Optimising lies in its concept of Free Food – healthy, satisfying foods that can be enjoyed in any amount whenever you’re hungry – the only
limit is your appetite. They’re called Free Foods because they’re unlimited – no obsessive counting or tedious weighing; no feelings of hunger and deprivation!

And because Free Foods are ordinary, wholesome, everyday foods, the whole family can enjoy them. Take care of your family's health as well as your own; encourage them too to fill up on hunger-busting, health-giving, energy-providing Free Food - everyone will reap the benefits.

With such a delicious, healthy, liberating and, yes, slimming way of eating, is it any wonder why a quarter of a million people in the UK attend Slimming World groups every week – where they receive the support, encouragement and motivation of a fully trained Consultant and together with a supportive group of like-minded people, to help them reach their personal weight loss target!

So make it a gift to yourself – that you’ll ditch any excess 'dieting' baggage you've been carrying with you and set off on your new, exciting journey to success with Slimming World!

To find out more go to the web site http://www.slimming-world.com/index.asp where there is a free 7 day plan you can down load[msnwink]

If you still want to do RC GI we will support you all the way I promise but I just want to save you having to drink coffee and water if you are hungry (which is what I used to do, but not anymore) and be able to 'eat'. I have become a bit evangelical about SW but that's because it really does work and if you go back to Part 1 of this thread you will see how some of us struggled before finding SW[msnwink]

    Good luck!!!!!

    happy birthday for yesterday sally
and well done judy for being able to admit to the amount you need to lose
i agree with the veiws of julie about SW i too have been trying to lose weight for more years than i can remember and now i look back on my life and biiterly regret being unhappy about my weight for so many years and ive promised myself and to my class it doesnt matter how long it takes me or how much weight comes off i wont stop going to class as with every "DIET "ive been on as soon as you stop i pile it back on and more, so SW is the best heathly eating plan ive been on and it is now for the rest of my life. pat

don't worry chris, she'll stick you back on

Jaff, i would go for 2lb a week and consider any extra as a bonus[msnwink] you will drop higher numbers in the first few weeks but after that 2lbs is the safe and steady option, remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? well the tortoise always wins the race and i'm the tortoise so are you ready?..............
    1,2 3 we're off[msnsmile2]

well i'm going to be out a lot today, seem to have appts with everyone the worst one being the neurologist[msnscared]so i'm checking in now whilst i'm sat here enjoying my usual brekkie and then it will probably be after weigh in before i next get online

good luck to Julie B and anyone else who also weighs in today

    have a good day everyone
