American Airlines changing flights with no notice

As you can guess from the title am fuming as American have changed our flights at christmas and put us on the 6am flight on New Years day to Miami instead of the 430pm flight. Are they always this annoying??? Had to spend 1 hour on the phone to try and sort it all out.

Is this a ploy just to get us to pay more money? Anyone travelling with American I would watch out as we didn't have any e-mails saying there had been changes just decided to print out all the paperwork to make sure that we had all the details.

Oh well managed to sort it, but does beg the question who else has had this happen

    Huw

Maybe they were moving people from a popular flight to a very unpopular one. I'm quite surprised they are operating that flight. I bet the staff aren't very pleased it is going either. I assume you are now back on the later one?

No they are running it 6am New Years day from MCO to Miami, which then meant we have to wait around for a while till we get the flight from Miami to LHR arrive at 10pm to then sit in the airport till 10am the next day to catch the internal flight home. orginially would have been in at LHR at 8:30 am on 2nd with a 3 hour wait till the flight back home.

Now all back to sensible times 4:30pm leaving MCO on the 1st getting back home 11:30 GMT on 2nd

but 6AM on new years day?!?!?!?!?!

I fly 6 times a year with AA to USA and have done for years.

I have never had problems until the last few weeks. I have a flight booked to MCO via ORD(Chicago) I had a 2.5 hour wait in ORD for my MCO flight. On checking my booking I just happened to notice that I had been moved to a flight 4 hours later - giving a 6.5 hour wait. On checking the earlier flight there were still plenty of seats left, so rang AA and got re-instated on the earlier plane; they couldn't give me a reason why this happened.

Last month I had a minor change - again at ORD when my flight No changed and was brought forward 20 mins and my flight No from MCO was also changed and the timing delayed 30 mins.

I have also had my seats changed. - I can choose my seats.

AA are supposed to inform you if there has been any change in your itinery of more than 20 mins(and always did)Yet all the above happened with no warning.

I can only assume there is some computer glitch that is causing this problem. I have written to AA for an explanation; perhaps you should do the same.

I have also discovered my outward flights with Delta have changed on 12 December but only discovered it when I logged on to see if I could move us to better seats. Previously they had changed the plane to a smaller plane but given us the same seat numbers which meant we were right at the back next to the galleys and toilets.

Instead of a 9.30am departure from Gatwick we are now on a 11.10am departure but with nearly 4 hours to wait for our onward flight in Atlanta. This means we will not arrive in Tampa until 9pm.
I shall also be asking for an explanation.

We are flying this Friday from Boston to Aruba with AA and they have done the same to us. Our flights are now about 2 hours later each way. We would have not known about except my friend called them as she was not sure she had done her seat assignments.

THere seems to be a lot of airlines changing flights to accommodate poor sales or overbooking etc. Would hate to have to get up at 3 am to catch the 6am flight!!!!

Not travelling with American but Continental.

We fly on Dec 16th via New York, our change luckerly has made our connection flight better but we were not notified. It was only when we went to change our seating on the web that we noticied one of our flights had changed. Had to re do our seating but thankfully we managed to get seated together.
