another pool heat question

can i ask for some villa owners opinion on this?

i've paid for pool heat as i'm going during march 07 and i am aware that the pool heater as such can only raise the temp by so much

just been looking at the owners small print and it says that the pool heat will be set for a certain numbers of hours per day

is this the norm when a renter pays for pool heat, for some reason i just thought it would be on continuous like a thermostat that fires up again when the water falls below the required temperature

The pool heater is only on when the pump is on so this is normal.
Depends on whether the pump is electric or gas as to how much it will heat when really cold but in March you should be fine and if you keep the pool cover on at night it will be fine to swim in in the morning too.
We have gas and a pool cover and swim in December with no probs at all

We have an electric pool heater and we were swimming in the pool on christmas day last year when the air temperture was in the low 50s (early in the morning.)
We could not have swim in the pool in the winter months without the heater. our pump/heater is normally on for about 10-12 hours per day to maintain a good temperture.

Mizzy our pool heat and pump is normally on between 8am - 8pm. You could ask the owner if he has a pool blanket, this will help keep the heat in during the cooler months and when I say cooler I don't mean by our British weather, you will find the weather wonderful during March.[msnsmile2]

If you keep the blanket on during the day too when you are not using it, the water should stay really warm [msnsmile2]

there is a blanket available and i know you need to put it back on whenever you are not using the pool, but with the small print saying a certain number of hours i'm worrying that it may be the very minimum and we will find it too cold[msnsad]

our first trip was in march so we have an idea of what weather to expect and in that villa the pool heat was on as far as i know "all the time" and the water was lovely and warm and we put the blanket back on when not using the pool there too

will try not too worry and if it is too cold will phone up and get them to sort it out for us

Mizzy I'd be surprised if any owner had the pool heater on for 24 hours. The thermal pool blankets are great and are well worth using, I had one this year at home and our water stayed nice and warm and we were not as warm here as it is in Florida.
Probably using the blanket on your last trip helped keep the water temperature nice and warm[msnsmile2]

Mizzy, we have been in Nov, Dec, and early Feb and our pool has always been lovely and warm.

We have the pool heat on from around 8am to 6pm and always keep the pool cover on when it is not in use this keeps all the heat in.
The sun throughout the day also adds to heating the pool it's only at night that the temp could drop and heat may be lost if the cover is not used.
