I have recently read on some of the trip reports that the Shamu show has not been on. Can anyone tell me why and for how long? We fly out a week on thursday and the Shamu show is one of my favourite bits![msnsad]

I think it is due to the birth of the new whale that the shows have been cancelled
I have to admit it was a bit of a bumnmer when we turned up first week of October to find out
Might be more on the seaworld site about when things will get back to normal
Was not on while we were there[msncry].
Notice said is was because of the new baby whale. There was a couple of times that you could 'meet the new baby' but we didn't get round to it.
Ive checked the seaworld site and it isnt mentioned - will have to keep fingers crossed x
When we were there in the spring, they had a Mum performing in the show and her baby was being entertained by the trainers on the 'belly flop' platform while she was in the show tank. When she had finished her performance, they were reunited and swam out of the arena tank together. It was really quite cute (as baby killer whales go!).
I'm sure the show will be back very soon, if it isn't already.

Thanks for that Blott, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
The trainers explained to us that the Believe show would start up again when mother was happy to leave her baby, and not before.
They said that they would take their lead from the mother, and never force them into performing.

We saw the Shamu show on Thursday last week (26th) we saw them practising for it at Easter time and I wasn't sure...but in full swing, have to say, you can't beat the "Big Fish"!! Think there were slightly less tricks than I remember, but great show.
