    Hotel in Harrogate

Does anyone know of a nice hotel or even b&b in Harrogate? It has to be central though as I am on Shankseys Pony for the two week period I need to be there and I am arriving by train.

I am doing a course and although it sounds lazy I don't want to come back to York each night as it finishes late plus I will get caught up in any work related things going on if I come back! (Company are paying obviously so I dont mind the cost[msneek])

    Thanks for any help

we've stayed here before Cruella and it's pretty close to everything

it has a nice tradional feel with good old fashioned customer service it also has a new modern award winning restaurant

this place is rather nice too and used to be a firm favourite of my parents for weekend breaks

Thanks Mizzy I shall have a look, I have a list provided by the course but would not know where to start really.

The Old Swan is a beautiful hotel and (if I remember correctly) allegedly the place where Agatha Christie was staying when she disappeared. We stayed there once for one of Trev's work do's which was held at Ripley Castle. A few years ago now, but I still remember it, so must have been ok.

CDV - have a look at the above link for Grants Hotel. We were there recently - it makes a nice change from the usual 'chains'.

It's right in centre of town too.

Thanks Dianna and Carole, both of those are also on the list so I will be investigating both. I do prefer recommendations as although people have different likes and dislikes it gives you a feel for the place. Got to get it right as we are there for 2 weeks!

Not been on for a while so only just seen this post.

One of the best hotels is The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel, at Bolton Abbey just outside Harrogate. It belongs to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and has a Michelin Star Restaurant. You can stay B&B if you want to but the food is excellent and I'd recommend going for the whole caboodle. They also have an excellent wine cellar.

We've stayed here quite a few times and it is one of my favourite restaurants.

Sounds lovely Andrea but as I said in the original post it has to be central Harrogate but I will certainly look at it in the future for my personal use as it sounds just like my cuppa tea, thank for the recommendation.
