Eating and Drinking in Southern Dunes

Myself and three buddies are staying in Southern Dunes on a golf holiday for eight days at the end of December. It is our first time in the area and I was hoping that someone would have a few good ideas for eating out in the area close to Southen Dunes. One of the group is a confirmed meat eater while another is a vegetarian (well pescetarian, a fish eater) A recomendation for few good bars in the area would be very welcome too. Bear in mind that we are all married and all we want is somewhere to have a few beers and hang out for a while in the evenings when it is too dark to play golf. Bars that show the premiership and Champions league would be high on our list and a pool table as well would be good. Am I asking for too much. More than likely. I will appreciate all your comments and help. Hopefully I might even discover a hidded gem myself that I can share with you all. thanks.

Just outside the gates of Southern Dunes there is the All Star Grill. This is a sports bar but you can eat as well. Just down the road is mannys Chophouse - great yet reasonably priced food and a lovely atmosphere.

The All-Star Grill is just opposite Southern Dunes which does good food has a pool table, bar and shows live sport. Mannys is also excellent for the meat eaters but I am sure they will also caer for the veggies. Fish Tales is also said to be very good although we have yet to try it as our kids are not keen on fish. There are plenty of options all of which will ensure a good night out. Hope you have a great time [msnwink]

Don't forget to try the clubhouse for breakfast or lunch.
    The food is excellent!
There is an "all you can eat" buffet on Sunday mornings.
The clubhouse also has a bar, where you could have a beer after a round of golf. They stay open until dark!

Thanks for those tips. I am feeling hungry already. They and all others are greatly appreciated. I take it that all these places necisitate a drive so we will have to nominate a designated driver.

You could walk to the All Star Grill, and also of course to the Clubhouse. Manny's Chophouse and Fish Tales would be a 20 minute walk, and most people would drive.

A new seafood restaurant, which we have not tried yet, is the Barking Fish, on the lake on US 17/92 about 4 miles from Southern Dunes.

There are a few Chineses nearby - the best is the Grand China Buffet near the I4 junction (great value buffet).

Also near the I4 junction is The Pub (football on the telly, shepherd's pie and fish and chips). Another bar is Beef O'Brady's, one block south of the Southern Dunes entrance, which you could walk to.

The Pub, on SR 27, may be worth a visit, its a sports bar. Its not walkable though, its a 5 minute drive to just before the SR27/I4 intersection (exit 55), this would be a right turn as you come out of Southern Dunes. As I drove past when I was last over I noticed they were advertising premiership football.

Hi, weve just returned from Southern Dunes and can also recommend All Star Grill and MAnnys.Mannys have a web site and you can down load the menu.Although veggie options are pratically non existant, my daughter is veggie and lived on salads and fries. If you venture to The Loop on N.J.Y. Parkway theres Johnny Rockets and they did have a veggie burger which was nice.

One of my daughters is also a veggie and she struggled at Manny's, she ate quesadillas rather alot.

She also loved the veggie burger at Johnny Rockets at the Loop. But not the one at Ruby Tuesdays, I had a taste and it was[sick].
