Just trying to work out what would be best for us all. Have tried to drive straight up and it was terrible. A couple of cans of red Bull were required as I felt a bit sleepy and was worried aboutt he dangers. Will not be doing it again!

We have stayed at the Raddisson SAS a few years ago before we had the youngest. It is a great hotel and even offers a small health club and even a swimming pool. Breakfast was wonderful with everything including Smoked salmon.
The only draw back is that it is not cheap and they only allow 3 people per room on the grounds of safety.

Millie, we have stayed at all four hotels on the airport, Bewleys is £104 inc up to 14 days parking, Hilton and Crwone plaza both do car parking but not sure on the cost.We are staying at the radisson SAS this time, the hotel straddles the walkway from T1 to T2.
We find the hotel great for as you check out you go right for T2 where virgin are and just 5 minutes on the walkway you are in the terminal,no outside waiting for buses etc on the way back straight to the walkway and to the hotel where your car is waiting.
As we are only two hours from home we have never tried asking at any of them for a day room but feel sure one of them will.
Hope this is of use to you, have a great time Eric

the radisson now offer family rooms (two interconnecting) to accomodate 4 people Neil, we are staying there in march and it's costing £199 for the two interconnecting rooms and 15 days parking, buffet breakfast is £35 extra

Millie you could always try booking the travelodge for two nights, the night before you arrive home and the night when you get back into the country, i think it may work out reasonable if you can get it for £26 per night but you will definately have to let them know your plans to see if they will allow it

we live in the north east and my husband is going to be having a little sleep on the plane (hopefully) and a few red bulls before our 3 hour drive home

That is always an option but there is no way we would get all the suitcases home on a BMI flight!!!!! We usually use our full allocation so 8 cases between the 4 of us!

    Thanks all for your help.

I may call some of the hotels and ask them for quotes and whether they offer a day room or not. We could try to grab some sleep but with 2 kids (one will be just turned 2!) there is not much chance of a sleep on the plane. I am very tall aswell and my knees touch the chair in front so its not comfortable enough. I also can't sleep sitting up no matter how tired I am.

We could do the drive up straight away but I don't like doing it tired especially not with the kids in the car.

And I may think about hiring a car up so thanks for that tip too. That may be cheaper than parking two.

    Thanks again

Just had another thought on day rooms before you drive back up, you maybe better booking a hotel a few miles away from the airport as it maybe a bit quieter and less busy, I live 3 miles from Manchester Airport and there are a few hotels in quiet back waters that maybe better for you[msnwink] Travel Inns at Wilmslow and Handforth are cheap, clean and have family rooms[msnwink]
