Hi Ray,
I think we have been down this road before, but seeing as how we are finally making the move (Nov) just remind me again.

When you say legal residency (re: handgun) what constitutes legal residency?
Does an E2 visa?

What you say regarding permits etc really suprises me.
I always thought that you had to have a permit to own a handgun, not just to carry it, but that was always my own impression without actually looking into it further.

So if an E2 constitutes legal residency, which i'm assuming it does, that means i can buy a handgun[clap]

Hi Frosty ....Unfortunately you will be on a non-immigrant visa
no carry permit for you ...
But that does not mean you cannot keep a home defence weapon ...

You should be able to purchase a weapon legally from a dealer ...you will have a DL ..and a SSN ....Gun shows are a good place to go looking ..

Of course buying privately has different rules entirely
Basically if I was selling a weapon ..privately
I would rquire to see you DL and have a signed statement from you declaring you are not a convicted felon ..thats it ..

If you are moving near to me ..you can inspect my collection...

Thanks Ray, i might just take you up on that, where about are you ?

Good news about owning a weapon though, never really wanted to carry one, but would like a "home defense" weapon which i could take to the range.

If you buy from a show, when would you actually get the weapon ?
