I have to agree with Lisa, we too have a home on Lindfields and have owned it for 12 years now. We could not afford to rent it out for such a low rate, mortgage or no mortgage. Most of the owners on Lindfields keep their homes in great condition and spend a lot of money on them. It is a wonderful estate and because of the fact that there a many owner occupiers we are well served by our neighbours looking out for our homes.
We can be in Disney within a few minutes as we have a nice shortcut.

You usually find out who the owners are who rent at low prices when their homes go up for sale and if you are out at the time going to look at them. You realise why they can rent so cheaply - the furniture is either shabby or cheap and the linens and towels are prettty awful. They have not got the money to spend on their homes so they have deteriorated and are really not worth more than they are asking in rental.

By the way, very few homes on Lindfields are small, most are spacious and also on the newer part at the bottom of the sub-division they have more garden space and are not squashed in. We like the space and we are able to grow fruit trees and lovely flowering bushes in our garden which makes it very attractive to guests.

First of all I have to say that I was not assuming the person had a mortgage, I was just giving figures for comparative purposes just in case. According to my research there have been over 50 houses for sale or sold which are under 1400 sq ft in Lindfields (which is small for a house in Florida).

Yes it is true that she might have got a nightmare home. However I have rented nightmare homes direct from owners before (and no I am not saying from this site) and I have rented great bargain homes in the past from tour operators. It's a gamble whoever you rent from. Renting from an owner is a marketing gimmick not a certainty. It's just how the owner prefers to market, usually so they don't have to pay a management company fees for the rentals.

Everyone is assuming that the owner is English. They may be, they may not be. If they were American and bought in the 90s or the early 2000s then they would have still gotten a much better deal than a foreign national.

I hope for the original thread starter's sake, that her holiday home is out of this world. I hope for her sake she has the best holiday ever. And I would love to see what her reply is when she gets back.

What the owners on this forum have to bear in mind is that you can rent direct from owners in the U.S. too and the prices are nothing like the U.K. owners and their homes are no worse than any homes on this site.

While you may not afford to be able to rent your homes out for that price. Please keep quiet. The other owner may be able to. That's just life. However, the lady gave a very short comment and you all jumped on her like a pack of wolves. Typical.

No one has jumped on on her on this theme ,We all feel for her and If she makes her comments before she goes on holiday may be she stands a chance of a refund or something. Foreworned is better than being ignorant ,Many of us have been on holiday with companys and wished we had not gone there and i am sure have had holidays from hell .That is the reason we take thing into our own hands and buy our own property ,And we all do not become millonaires doing this .
I wish her luck and hope she enjoys her holiday of a lifetime .

Oh dear - this has deteriorated somewhat. We're busy entertaining guests at the moment so I cannot read it in detail so am locking for now.
