I almost had a heart attack then!!! I only started to roll the screen and thought there would be a picture of a real one.
Phew!!!!
According to our local newspaper, (Yorkshire again) we are inundated with mosquitoes, and people are worried about Malaria!!!
I've not seen any, and I live at the side of the nature reserve where they are supposed to be.

Now mozzies I can do without, they always may a meal out of me.[msneek][msnwink][msnsmile2]

I have had a phobia about spiders for as long as I can remember, and as a life long spider watcher I can confirm that September is THE month for the Big Ones!!
I always warn the kids to keep a special eye out at this time of year, and not to leave clothes lying about, not that I want to scare them, or anything...!!
As far as daddy-long-legs are concerned, I have fly nets up and this makes a huge difference. All through the summer I have been able to keep windows open, and lights on!!, throughout the day and night, and apart from the ones that slip in through the open door, have had no problem so far. I bought them in Lidl around June time, if anyone is interested. They are usually available every year, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Just make a note in your calendar, and 2007 is sorted![msnsmile]

Jaff that was just cruel
All these people pouring their hearts out about how they hate the site of spiders and you stick a big one up without a word of warning.
Was that monster here or in Florida? Looks just like the one that greeted me at the villa in Rotonda - I was on the loo and lo and behold it appeared on the floor - I nearly died as you can imagine. Raced out to get the bug spray and dealt it a fatal blow as big 16 stone son is even more scared than me! Needless to say it put the wind up us and we kept a wary eye open after that.

I've never liked spiders ...but dealing with the ones in FL while the building was going on all around me they don't worry me at all now...that is if I don't find them in my bed....Sept always been a bad month for spiders...my mum hates it any bite and she is very ill no matter what the spider...
We noticed more spiders this year...this tiny little spider we have here builds webs everywhere...you clear one away and find 3 more....a few hours later they are back again...we get a lot of long legged spiders here...but this year we've had tons of house spiders...we sprayed the house in spring too...
