    Heelys

I know from previous postings that heelys are available in Florida, but does anyone know exactly how much they cost? I've seen an English website that sells them but as we are due to travel in November I may be better off waiting until we go to Florida.

    Thanks

We got some this August for my sons friend from a stall at The Loop cost approx $38. Sports Authority also at The Loop were selling some better quality ones at about $80. We also got our son a pair from Florida Mall on a stall for $55. Our son is still wearing his back in UK and loves to go shopping to supermarkets with me now because they have the best floor surfaces to skate on. However, our sons friends wheel on one shoe split before we left USA. Mights be best to pay a little more for the quality.

We bought some Heelys for our daughter in one of the shops in the Florida Mall in August and they cost $69.99 plus tax. If my memory serves me rightly the ones that are on sale at the stalls in the malls are NOT Heelys, but are cheeper. The proper heelys come with a tool to remove the cover and insert the wheel. The ones from the stalls have a button on the back of the heel to press that flicks the wheel out and then press again to put the wheel back in.

Yes thats right the one's with the button on the back are not the original heelys. We bought ours from the Quicksilver shop in Universal citywalk there were $67 dollars but with our preffered passes we got 10% discount.

So it was worth us buying them from there.

We bought ours from a shoe shop in Festival Bay - they were $69.99 but they had pink laces so that was the deciding factor for one little princess.... They came complete with the wheels but also a tool for removing them and inserts to put in it's place if you want to wear them as trainers.

We bought some in July at Sports Authority at The Loop and they cost $70, they are original heeleys. My sister bought some with the button at the back at Florida Mall for around $60 but boy they are noisy. Try listening to them on wooden floors[msneek] the original ones are almost silent

Not to be a killjoy but watch how often the children are wearing them as well. There was a programme on tv in England before we came away about the dangers (not only the obvious falling ones but also when the children are walking with the heels down they are on tiptoe and then when they are skating they are stretching their achilles tendon and the doctors are already noticing some children haviong damaged tendons because of it.

Not sure if we were just conned but we fell for the sales hype and bought the gel heel cushions to go inside them, another $14.99 plus tax! It did seem to make sense at the time. My daughter never really got the hang of the wheels anyway so now she just wears them as trainers.

Think we will wait while we get there to buy some. Should also have opportunity to try them on.[msnwink]
