For all us that like Florida and say a drive down the keys and not going to Disney Land is flying Gatwick - Miami (VS005 and VS006) a better route? Not so much bucket and spade/kids and more pro like New York routes? Has anyone done this? Cheers

BA for me.
Not hada bad one in 20 years, World traveller, WTplus or club. Not been Virgin so can't comparee it for you.
You can get a bad experience with anything, but I would hazard a guess that if you fly BA or Virgin, you'll usually be fine.
Enjoy it.[msnsmile2]
Just like 'Tesco v. Sainsburys' or 'Tea v. Coffee', it's no more than personal preference.
At the end of the day you're travelling on the same aircraft on the same route for the same period of time. Is there really that much of a difference in the way they serve you thier plastic food in a plastic tray?

I really like the food served by virgin, I would never call it plastic. Can't speak for the food on the other carriers tho.

We've flown both - BA and Virgin but we like to go to Tampa and drive down. Think Tampa airport is quieter too - but on the whole prefer BA - never had a bad flight. Virgin to Orlando is usually busier and more children on the flight. We fly in 28 days and are trying World Traveller Plus this time so hope to be a bit more legroom. Can hardly wait but getting nervous now!

WTP is great Lisi, there's a lot more legroom, more seat width. and the seats are more comfy. I think it's a good product for the money, I dare say Virgin's PE is good too.
Thanks Macka - am really glad about that. Have disabilities and always worry they will swop seats on me and stick me in the middle somewhere! But as the seats are booked I hope not to be moved. Be nice to have a bit more room - I wondered if the extra money for the flight would be worth it.

Virgin are upgrading their PE seat and service:-
Virgin Atlantic, the pioneer of the Premium Economy cabin, is to reinvent the product in a £12m revamp which includes a new wider seat – the largest in its class - and additional services to woo business and leisure passengers alike.
The seat, which is currently being rolled out across the fleet, combines a 38” seat pitch with a width of 21”, which is wider than BA Clubworld and around 3” wider than other airlines’ Premium Economy products.
The leather seat features enhanced ergonomics for improved comfort. It also features a dual position footrest, lumbar support, adjustable headrest with wings, and a redesigned tray table. All seats provide passengers with lap top power.
Virgin Atlantic’s Premium Economy passengers benefit from many dedicated services when they travel on Premium Economy which include a dedicated check in, a separate cabin, priority boarding, priority duty free and quicker baggage reclaim and a dedicated toilet on the majority of aircraft. They also receive a pre-departure drink and post dinner liqueur.
The new additional services include dedicated cabin crew, a redesigned meal service and dedicated amenity kit. They will also receive a soft fleece blanket and a fruitbowl service, where passengers can help themselves to fruit throughout the flight.
