The link was about dead stingrays being found in Australia since Steve's death which it was assumed was done by people who were either upset or afraid of them, along with a plea to leave stingrays alone as it was felt he would be very much against people taking this sort of action.

TV naturalist STEVE IRWIN's public memorial service will take place at his beloved 'Crocoseum' at Queensland's Australia Zoo, his widow reveals. The announcement is the first public comment TERRI has made since her husband was tragically killed by a stingray barb in the chest last Monday (04SEP06). Much larger venues were initially suggested for the public send-off to accommodate the overwhelming outpouring of grief his death has prompted around the globe. However, Terri insists the zoo Irwin's father set up is the most fitting venue for the reptile wrestler's memorial. She said in a statement, "I cannot see how a memorial service would work in any other place other than the Crocoseum which he built here at the zoo and of which he was so proud. "I would therefore ask that everyone please bear with me in this wish and help me to make this happen." The public memorial will take place on Wednesday (20SEP06). Terri, Irwin's eight-year-old daughter BINDI, his father BOB and his friend and manager JOHN STAINTON will all speak. The event will be broadcast live on television across Australia, the United States and Asia. Australian country singer JOHN WILLIAMSON, one of Irwin's favourite performers, will perform. A private funeral took place at the zoo on Saturday (09SEP06) after his family turned down Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD's offer of a state funeral.

Just thought I would post this for anyone who is interested, I still feel very sad, don't know why it has had this effect on me and so many others, perhaps it is because we all felt we knew him.
Well I did anyway.
R.I.P Steve.

Vicky i feel exactly the same, have been watching the crocadile hunter this afternoon, so much enthusiasm such a great guy!
i did shed a few tears (i know it seems silly as i never knew him but he was so young and so passionate about all living things) he will be missed but am sure this isnt the last we will see of the Irwin family!! xx i think Bindi is going to be a mini Steve!
Liesa
I also have been watching repeats of his show for the last week or so, then it suddenly clicks, he isn't with us anymore[msncry] All the times he talks about watching Bindi and little Bob grow and how Bindi can start dating when she reaches 31, so funny but so sad.
doesn't she look just like him? I think you are right about her[msnwink] Bindi Sue The Crocodile hunter.

just looking at his last picture taken on board his boat with his chum, thats sad but he was a handsome man!

We had only be talking about taking baby to see Steve a few days before..a friend of mine in Oz knows him and wanted to take us to the Zoo to meet Steve and his family...baby is a great fan of Steves and watches all his shows...he dresses like Steve...and loves bugs and wildlife...we have toy snakes everywhere.....
I was out in Australia and stayed near the zoo but it was before he was famous worldwide and we never went which was a shame as I won't ever be in Oz again.

IRWIN'S MANAGER: 'MEMORIAL WILL NOT BE A CIRCUS'

LATEST: STEVE IRWIN's former manager has warned press not to make the late naturalist's memorial a "media circus". The public ceremony takes place on Wednesday (20SEP06) at Irwin's 'Crocoseum' at the Australia Zoo. However, JOHN STAINTON, the CROCODILE HUNTER star's manager, producer and close pal, is desperate to ensure the VIP attendees and huge media interest don't spoil the day. He says, "I really don't want to make a publicity spectacle out of who is going to be doing anything or who is going to be appearing and turn it into a circus. "It's not a circus big-top thing and it's been hard enough just getting it together without having to use publicity to make it work." He also warned Irwin's widow TERRI and daughter BINDI may still be too upset to speak at the memorial, as planned. He said, "I don't want to put her through any stress at all. Steve wouldn't want that. "A decision on whether Terri or Bindi Irwin will speak will be made on the day. There's no pressure on anybody." Irwin died earlier this month (04SEP06) after being stung in the chest by a stingray while diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
