I feel very sad. I loved his programmes but always felt worried for him. I will definitely miss him on TV. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I was so shocked to hear this news, still can't believe it, if he was killed by a croc I wouldn't be suprised but a stingray[:O] It is supposedly a rare occurence but still a shock, my heart goes out to his family I hear they wasn't with him[msnsad][grouphug]

We were very shocked to hear the news this morning and greatly saddened by it. Stingrays always look so cute and funny when you see them swimming in the tanks and coming up to greet you at the Sea Life centres. Although stingrays are venomous, the major clinical problem is often related to mechanical trauma from the sting as most injuries are caused by people treading on them. In rare cases they can whip back and cut deeply into an abdomen or in this case his heart.
Only one other person is known to have died in Australia from a stingray attack, at St Kilda, Melbourne in 1945 which is where our son is teaching diving at the moment so being a typical Mum I have sent him a 'be careful' e-mail this morning.
Steve Irwin always made his programmes interesting and informative, we will miss him.

Seems to make it more tragic, especially as he has filmed with other very dangerous and venomous creatures, very unlucky, very sad[msnsad]

We went to his place in Queensland last year. He did so much more for conservation and understanding than sometimes came across on his TV shows; which I also think were excellent from both an entertainment and learning point of view. It's a sad loss to the world.
Sad news about Steve, we went to his zoo in Australia last year. We watched his show with the crocodlies, which he was doing.[msnsad]
Barbara
Terrible loss
He was so enthusiastic about wildlife and lived each day for new adventures
He took the nature documentory into a new world and away from the stuffed shirt brigade
Sleep Well Steve
Sad to hear the news of the death of STEVE IRWIN we will all respected animals in their own enviroment ,We saw a lot if stingrays near the beach at DAYTONA they were near the pier and everyone in the sea shouted and came out of the sea , So when we go to DAYTONA we aways look for them .

We always enjoy watching him, we have just had to explain to our six year old Daughter that he had died and how it happened and how rare it is for this sort of thing to happen, we thought it best to tell her as she will be going back to school on Wednesday telling all her friends how she was stroking and feeding the stingrays at Seaworld last week, we wanted to explain it to her rather than someone telling her in the playground and freaking her out. As it is she is quite wary about stuff in the sea (she got stung by something in the sea in Fort Myers a couple of weeks ago - we think it was a jellyfish.
As other people have said he will be missed, and he did such a lot for conservation.
I felt really gutted when I heard this. I was only watching him yesterday teaching at his Croc school anbd I commented how much I liked him and what a great guy he was. I really feel for his family and his team at the zoo he will be sadly missed.![]()
