My wife has a small appetite and often ordered a kids portion this holiday. Some places (Bahama Breeze) do a 'lighter' portion.

    Hi Mizzy

If you ask for both a childs menu along with an adults then you can take your pick. We did this everywhere this year with my son who is 13 and sometimes like to eat the usual chicken fingers and chips etc., but sometimes like to opt for a bigger portion.

You can always leave with a 'to go' box and enjoy any left overs later[msnwink]

    Hi Mizzy

Over the last couple of weeks Danielle who is 14 was ordering some of the time from the children's menus and then sometimes from the adults.

Emma who is 16 was just ordering starters mainly for her main meal and then on other occasions the girls ordered seperate starters but then shared a main course.

Not one of the restuarants minded at all.

    Hi Mizzy,

My daughter is 14 but doesn't have a large appetite. We've never had a problem in ordering smaller meals either from the children's menu or starter menu's. Often my daughter just has 2 starters. Sometimes I have shared main courses with her and most places will gladly bring an extra plate.
Another bonus of living in a villa is 'boxing' meals - if the meals are too large we often box half and take it home for lunch the next day!

I do not eat a lot and have often asked for a childs meal. I have never had any problems with this. IHOP often ask charge an extra dollar as they say they do not make a profit on a childs meal? Not sure I believe it but do not mind paying the dollar as I do not like wasting a lot of food.

The only time you cannot do this is when you go for a buffet meal. Any other meal you can order exactly what you want. In the places where the potions are huge ie Cheesecake factory, Bahama Breeze etc. my s-i-l and I only order 2 appetizers and ask them to put them in the middle with 2 extra plates. This is all we want. We remember to tip well and always make sure that we are very pleasant a to the server.
