Another newbie-although an 'Owner'

Hello, new to forums and find it a mine of information. We bought in 2002 on a H27 development (We actually booked the flight on 11th Sept 2001 !!!!!!!
The avatar is completely neww also, not seen one before but it seems an industry! Tried the instructions on finding them but whilst the downloading to PC was OK, the refernce to the http bit stumped me. I copied the 'address' from the search panel and pasted in to my Profile, but I am now a member of the RED cross brigade - I note many others!
Although I am a silver surfer, I thought the instruction not helpful. Can anybody direct me to the IDIOTS GUIDE TO AVATARS!
