    Virgin - Infant Care Chairs

Has anyone seen or used the infant care chairs available on Virgin flights for 6 mths-3 year olds? Are they similar to a car seat? Is the toddler in an upright sitting position or can they be reclined at all? Our 2-year old dd was a nightmare on our last trip - slept a grand total of 2 hours in the 27 hours we were on the go! Anything to make this trip easier is worth trying (yes, I've got some Phenergan as a last resort!).

i have never seen the infant chairs so i cannot help you there, i do have an e.mail address for virgin customer services and special assistance who would be able to help answer your questions, dm me if you want it

some friendly advice i would like to offer, personally i would stay well away from Phenergan

it has been reported to have the opposite effect to a sedative and could possibly make a child more hyper, you should also consult your gp first if you do intend to use it especially on a very young child

have a look here for more info relating to this drug

When I travelled with my then 13 month old a few years back I asked a chemist about using Phenergan, he strongly advised against it.

Like Mizzy says, I would check the side effects of this particular brand of medication.

I would have to agree about phenergan and it's reported negative effects, especially if the first time you try it is on the plane, when you are stressed and tired and don't know what the effects may be - last thing you want is a more hyper child.

Another trick might be to try putting a couple of drops of lavendar oil on your daughter's pillow routinely at home. Hopefully the scent should be a calming one and one that she then also associates with sleep, then take the oil with you on the plane so that at the opportune moment you can suggest a sleep and also put some of the oil on her collar so she gets the scent (secretively, if necessary). Obviously in the current situation you won't be able to take the oil onto the plane, but your could have some hankies with the scent on them in a ziplock bag, that you can take out at the appropriate time.
