    New Virgin PE seating

I don't fly Virgin much but these are the new PE seats being tested on a few aircraft. There seem to be 2 different types but both look pretty good. Apologies if this isn't news to you Virgin fans.

(Apparently the 1st picture is from the hot tub at Virgin's Heathrow lounge!)

I have never flown Virgin PE but looking at the pictures there doesn't seem to be any extra leg room than in ordinary economy.

I flew PE for the first time to Florida a few weeks ago. I can say at the end of the flight I really didn't feel like I'd travelled long haul. The bigger seats and extra space was fantastic.

To confuse things further there seems to be many different new Virgin PE seats - a quick search on the subject will show some of the options. Have to say when we have flown PE we have found the extra space (especially if upstairs) is lovely.

Paula I have to agree, after dreading the return flight from California yesterday, we have arrived feeling quite OK as we came home BA club with the beds and slept most the way. I would say that it is worth saving your money on the outbound day flight, but paying the extra for the return in a premium cabin. Even many charter flights do a basic (take your own food etc) class, which you can use on the outbound, with a holiday to get over the flight and an upgraded premium return

There are 2 schools of thought on which direction to spend your upgrade cash. My wife prefers to upgrade on the outbound day flight because she feels she is missing out on the service and facilities by sleeping all the way. She says she can sleep in our own bed for free when she gets home.

Both ways is best of course!

The second and third thumbnails are actually the new economy seats.

We would always do the outward leg as we like to start the holiday off in a good way. On the Virgin website I like the idea of being able to book PE one way if you want.

The new seats look ok to me, don't look as wide as the old ones.

The new leather seats (PE) are one inch wider than the old style seats and have 2 inches more recline although the seat pitch is the same (38").

Unfortunately they are only being put on the Airbus at the moment - so it'll be a while until we get to use them to fly to MCO.
