In case anyone is interested and did not already know. My Travel have started a downtown check in facility in Orlando - not sure exactly where, but I believe it is off International Drive. Passengers can check in, drop off luggage, collect boarding cards and only have to turn up at Sanford 90 mins before take off.
They also have twilight check in at Gatwick where you are also issued with boarding cards.

we used it last week [msnwink]. it costs per person, $10 per head and there is cut-off time for checking in the luggage.
