24 hour flight delay

just arrived back yesterday after a 24 hour flight delay, travelled with travelcity direct i think it will be the last time and to cap it all the flight was bumpy as hell i was glad to get to the other end.we are shattered

Sorry to hear about your horrendous return flight. At least you have arrived back to glorious sunshine, which should make you feel alittle better.

When TCD seem to get a delay they are normally 24hrs! At least you got back to great weather.

My daughter and son-in-law had a similar delay when the used TCD in May.
They said that they were very well looked after though and were put up in a lovely hotel for the night.

What reason did they give for the delay and how did they treat you?

Sorry you had a horrible end to what was probably a great holiday, at least you can carry on sunbathing here

Maybe a little hard on TCD to blame them for the flights being "bumpy". Some days are more bumpy than others and it would affect all aircraft the same.

24 hours is a long time to be delayed. How did TCD treat you? did you get good accomodation and free drinks and food?

Nine years ago this August we flew with Freddy Lakers newly launched airline to Florida. The planes had leather seats with adjustable lumber cushions and all for around £200 a ticket. Two weeks later we arrived at the boarding gate and half way through boarding we were told that there was a problem with a light on the fuel tank and everyone had to disembark.

That's when the fun started, it was a Sunday and we were the last flight out. A tanker had to be found to off load the fuel and then the fuel was pumped back in. This was done twice before they decided we could safely continue out journey. We finally set off 6 am the next morning.

Everything was a bit chaotic to say the least, we were given vouchers but there was only one place open to spend them in and that was pretty empty of supplies. Husband stayed with kids and when we returned with our meagre supplies they were sitting there with packs of sandwiches and water.

The worst part of the wait was listening to the raised voices at the desk demanding to know what was happening and why wasn't a replacement plane being sent out to us.

Most people were resigned to the wait, I for one would rather they completed every safety check before we took off.

Other than that it was a very pleasant flight and I was a little sad to hear that the airline had folded.

We also flew out to Miami with Laker July 1997, I have to say its not an experience I would wish to repeat[msneek] It was an old DC-10 with all leather seats and US crew, on the return they changed out departure airport from Miami to Fort Lauderdale and we were very late departing, Sir Freddie's son was on board trying to deal with all the complaints[msnscared]
