    Delta Planes

Using Delta for the first time.

    777 to Atlanta

    757 to Orlando

    764 back to Atlanta

    764 back to Gatwick

Not bothered about the short trips but do we have seat back TV's on the long legs.

Girls have DVD players, ipods etc but need to know if we need to take them.

We flew with Delta from Manchester to Atlanta in April on a 777. There were no seatbaack TVs, but drop down monitors and a big screen at the front to each cabin. Because of people walking in front of the screens, I'd take the portable DVD players and iPods. There was a child of about 7 sat across the aisle watching Shrek on her portable DVD player so I watched that over her shoulder no sound for me but Donkey's face is priceless anyway!! I think the portables a great idea and might invest in one myself.

Sally when we have flown Gatwick/Atlanta via Delta on a 777 we have always had a seat back TV. The 757's not only have seat back TV/videos but inter-plane trivial pursuits and live Fox News. Did you mean 767 flying back from Atlanta/Gatwick? If so that is only overhead screens but I imagine most of your journey will be at night anyway.

We did have our plane changed once from 777 to 767 so it may still be worth taking the DVD's and ipods.
You can also check nearer the time to see what films will be showing at

Do you have allocated seats? It is also worth logging onto the Delta site where you can move your seats if you are not happy with them.

I have got the planes from Delta, I joined their Skymiles and those are the planes on my account. Definately states a 764.

They keep changing the Atlanta-Orlando-Atlanta ones, not worried about those though.

Have done our seats, but keep changing them due to them changing it 3 times now.

'764' is an abbreviation for a 767-400 so you're both right!!

We did this very route in Apr/May with Delta. I don't recall the aircraft type but there were definitely no seatback videos on the plane.

By the way, check your connection times at Atlanta...we had 1 hour 15 mins (if I recall correctly) between landing in Atlanta and leaving for Orlando. There's no way you can make the connection in that time, especially with the fingerprinting and photos required at immigraton these days.

Fortunately there's a Delta desk right by the Orlando gate, and they changed us to a later flight with no problems. They said it happens all the time [:O]

In that case we normally fly back on a 767-300 (763?)so the information I gave you for the return leg may be incorrect Sally.

I know many people who make that connection in that time scale without any problem.

Delta know who is on the flight and will hold the flight if required. If they book you on that flight then they will do everything possible to get you on the plane(why would they fly with empty seats?) If you are too late then they will make alternative arrangements.

There is nothing worse that sitting around an airport watching a flight leave that you could have made.

75 minutes does seem tight for an international to domestic connection at Atlanta although the inter-terminal train is usually very quick and efficient.

However, I agree with Robert that it is usually going to be achievable. I see too many holiday flyers who seem to think that airports are primarily shopping and eating venues. While I'm sure there are many examples of people missing the flight through no fault of their own (and that Sniff is one of them), a lot of it could be avoided.

If they don't change my flights again then we have 2 hours 20 mins between planes going and 1 hour 20 mins back.

Better than the 50 mins we had originally going.
