    tickets

what is the expert's view on buying tickets? Is it best to buy them in the UK before you go or while you are there?

Also I did read on this site an address someone had where you could be sent a book of tokens to claim discounts for some of the parks and resturants in Orlando. Can anyone help me here

You won't get discounts in the form of coupons for the main theme parks but you can get discounts for many restaurants, etc and these can be obtained in Florida. Just go along to any restaurant and you'll see free coupon books galore with all sorts of discounts.

As far as buying discount park tickets is concerned, have you looked at http://www.park-tickets.co.uk yet? You can purchase these in the UK and either have them delivered to your UK address or your Florida address. The prices include taxes and they are genuine tickets.

If you purchase park tickets in Florida, then beware the little 'booths' advertising discount tickets which you will see outside restaurants or even inside. There have been cases where these have not been valid tickets so don't waste your money with these.

Was a bit disappointed in the lack of theme park discount coupons when I first went to Orlando.

Years ago in Los Angeles, the same sort of voucher books that offer you 10% off the price of a meal or half price mini golf also offered $20 off the admission to Disneyland, Universal Studios and Six Flags Magic Mountain.

I presume that the "Powers that Be" decided that there was no need to attract Orlando's visitors to the parks as there is little other reason to be there !!!

    Ah well.

If I were you, I'd buy the tickets in the UK from the site quoted by blott. They are helpful and good value too. I found some dodgy outlets in Orlando for so-called 'cheap tickets'. Some of these are downright illegal while others are not the good value one believes them to be. I know someone who was taken for a ride by a ticket tout in Kissimmee who sold him several bits of partly used passes supposedly to make the whole. In the end, the buyer lost out quite a lot of money.

    Hi Andrew

As mentioned above there are almost nil discount available for Theme Park Tickets, although sometimes you can get a 2nd days admission for the price of 1 - Seaworld has certianly offered this facility for some time.

We purchased our last lot of tickets from the compnay mentioned above and the tickets as well as numerous vouchers for shops and bars etc. came through within about 7 days, from memory we saved ourselves a few dollars, but not much.

The main advantage of purchasing tickets ahead of time is that it does at least spread the cost of what is usually ( if you have kids and even if you don't ) an expensive holiday. It does seem to ease the strain on the wallet.

If you go to the Customer Service Desks at The Belz and Premium Outet Malls, you can get a "Passport" that gives you 10% or more off most of the shops in the centres.

For Bars and Restaurants etc then most of the Hotel Front Desks have vouchers for local bars etc and the I'Drive Trolley Bus also carry's books with vouchers for shops etc.

    Best of luck

We bought our tickets from Seligo Ticket agency in the UK. The 10 day workd pass is only available in the UK not in the States. It cost us £250 for an adult (although just before we went they went down to £200). This worked out much cheaper then buying in the US.

Some of the ticket booths in the area are from timeshare resorts - they say you can get cheap tickets if you spend 1 1/2 hours looking around their resort. Although they will usually honour the tickets, the reality is it takes longer than this and is a quite hard (and persuasive) sell. Not the best way to spend your precious time on holiday (unless you want a timeshare!).

I bought tickets for Universal and Islands of Adventure online, direct from Universal. If you purchase a 2 day ticket, they were giving you 3 extra days, so you get 5 consecutive days for the same price as 2, great value. If you pay with a Mastercard they were also giving 1 free ticket for every 4 purchased. The total cost for 4 adult tickets was £240.46 the exchange rate given was $1.6019. I booked these 3 days before we left the UK and picked them up in the park.

A friend of mine has recently bought these as well, and I think you pick the tickets up at electonic booths outside the parks - it is great value. The SeaWorld online booking gives the option of an e-ticket, so you can print it straight off.
