well done Fiona[clap][clap][clap] as to the pumpkin why not do what i have made above and call it pumpkin suprise, the suprise being that ther's no pumpkin in it, but hey, at least you will have used a pumpkin colour, i would do little individual ones in a yorkshire pudding or fairy cake tin, it takes about 10 mins to prepare and 20-25 cooking, probably less for smaller ones and once presented with a dessert the class will love you for it

my christmas pudding ice cream looks [msntongue] and i can't wait to try it

and i'm not that good really, only been trying out all these new things to keep me interested and motivated

I have just read the recipe Mizzy, gosh you can tell I am working hard can't you?! I wonder if I could use pumkin puree, although that might be rather strange, am going to have a go but will have to change the fruit as DH HATES apricots, so might try half an apple instead, or peaches. Just looking at the Now to Wow! and think I might five it a go.

Karen you were right - I was of course referring to Teenage Daughter From Hell!!

    To drink

    - 2 Syns on Green and Original
    (See below for recipe)

    Serves: 12
    Syns per serving:
2 Syns on Green and Original

    Ingredients
    284ml/½ pint water
    2 cloves
    1 cinnamon stick
good pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
    1136ml/2 pints dry cider
    1 level tablespoon brown sugar
    28ml/1fl oz dark rum
1 red apple, cored and thinly sliced

    1. Put the water in a pan with the cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer gently for 10 minutes.

    2. Add the cider and sugar and stir gently over a low heat, without boiling, until it is heated through. Add the rum and serve the mulled cider warm, garnished with apple slices.

It’s the ultimate fright night – but the ghosts and ghouls aren’t the only things to give us a scare when we’re watching our weight! Hallowe'en party food such as hot dogs (in a roll with ketchup is 17 Syns) and toffee apples (10 Syns) can add up to a whole day’s worth of Syns (and don’t have the filling power of Free Food)!

Deliciously devilish party food doesn’t have to make us scream, simple ideas that are fantastically filling, low in Syns and great for guests include:

    Devilled chicken :

For only 2 Syns on Original and 6 Syns on Green (serving 4 people) this tangy dish makes great finger food. Mix together 3 level tbsps mango chutney, 1 level tbsp Dijon mustard, 3 tbsps Worcestershire sauce, ½ tsp cayenne pepper, ½ tsp ground ginger and the juice of ½ lemon. Spread the mixture over 454g/1lb cooked chicken, thoroughly coating it, then cover and leave to marinate in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight. Cook the chicken under a hot grill until piping hot, crispy and golden brown.

    Corn on the cob :

A fabulously Free tasty Green snack - wrap in foil and cook on the bonfire or barbecue. Sprinkle with paprika or barbecue seasoning for a smoky taste.

    Baked potatoes :

Cram in Free fillings such as very low fat cottage cheese, quark or baked beans for a Green day and chicken, bacon or tuna for an Original day (227g baked potato taken as a Healthy Extra).

    Chilli con carne :

cook up a big pot of this spicy favourite using lean mince and lots of peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms for a dish that’s Free on Original. For a Green choice, make the chilli using quorn mince or mixed beans such as canellini, haricot and kidney beans. Keep everyone warm with lots of added chilli powder!

Make up some sugar-free green jelly (½ Syn madewith 142ml water) and add some Rowntree’s wiggly worms (½ Syn each) before it sets! The children will love the gruesomely gorgeous treat!

Keep warm by toasting some marshmallows for 1 Syn each.[msnwink]

    Good Evening everyone.

    Hope you're all ok.

Well, today I have been an[angel].

I got up at 5.30 with the intention of doing an hour on the treadmill. When I got downstairs, one of my delightful doggies and left me a w** and a p**. charming! She never does that! Luckily its wood floor and easily cleaned up, but that took me 15 mins so by the time I got on the treadmill it wasn't as long as I'd hoped, but still 45mins which was good. (Oh and I walked the dogs for 40 mins late pm too)

I've had a good look on the SW website, still trying to get my head round it, I thought I might join the postal service so that I can get the book, it might be easier to have it to hand. Anyway, I've tried to make a start so here's my food diary for today, perhaps you experts on here can let me know if I've gone wrong anywhere.

Breakfast: 1oz porridge topped with chopped banana
    mid morning: apple
lunch: very large salad with tuna, frusili bar (6 syns - I looked it up[msnwink])
    mid afternoon: another apple
Tea: Loads of cooked mushrooms, peppers, onion made into a large omette made with 3 eggs.

I have to say, I'm stuffed!

I'll have to get my head round original and green days so I can plan better, but feel better for being in control again.

    Any comments welcome![msnwink]

Julie b why not downoad the free 7 day menu plan from the web site and go and buy the mag too, looking at your diary the only questions I would ask would be what dressing if any was on the salad and how did you cook the omelette?

I have to admit before I joined sw I had salad evey day now I hardly ever have it as there are so many more filling and exciting lunches to be had. one of the biggest killers to weight loss is boredom so have a look at some of our past food diaries on here to get a better idea of the green and red days[msnwink]

Julie, I have to say I never get fed up with salad, as you may have noticed.

Will check in later with food diary and catch up then.

    Hi Julie,

On the salad I had 1 teaspoon of horseradish sauce (wierd I know but I like it![msnwink].

With the omlette, I softened the mushrooms, peppers and onion in a saucepan with 1 teaspoon of soy sauce and then dry fried the omlette and put all the veggies on top.

Funnily enough I found the SW magazine today (been trying to find it all week, not in smiths or anywhere else, then managed to find it in Waitrose of all places!). Haven't had chance to look at it yet. I looked at the websites 7 day plan, will give it a try but can you interchange the meals? I don't like some of them!

I think if it works for you - and it clearly does for you Jill as you have lost so much - then great but I was thinking more of Julie b as she has been struggling[msnwink]
