    good morning everyone

hope everybody is feeling nice and positive this holiday weekend

i've still got to get weighed monday, it's a weigh and go class with it being a bank holiday

i've been working on my menu for my anniversary and so far it looks like this

    cooked beef slices*
cooked ham slices with a mustard crust*
    bistro salad with croutons
    coleslaw
    potato salad
    beetroot salad
    selection of bread rolls
    mini bruschetta
    vol au vents
    breaded king prawn skewers plain
and sweet chilli with sweet chilli dip
egg and bacon quiche (made by my mum)
    Lasagne (dh's speciality)
    garlic bread slices
    hot new potatoes with chives
    crisps
    nuts
    dips and crudites

    mini choc eclairs
    mini pavlovas
    trifle
    fresh fruit plate
    anniversary cake
    birthday cake (dh's birthday!)

    * i'm cooking the joints of meat myself the day before*

now all i need something simple for my veggie guest but not sure? and the children are having thier own buffet in the den which is going to be their v.i.p lounge[msneek]with no adults allowed[msnoo]

    what do you think?

Sounds great Mizzy I am sure your guests will have a ball as well as a feast. What about some of the green sw receipes such as roasted veg couscous or a veg lasagne . There is a lovley finger food receipe called Spicy chickpea ball with yougurt relish or of course a frittata or a mushroom pate

thanks for the idea of the veggie food Janny, i think i'll add cous cous to the list because it's nice and easy[msnwink]

i'm not sure about your food diary at all Janny, it'a little confusing for a red day

    what's spagetti squash?

your jacket pot would be a B choice as would the beans? so i'm confused there too, because with the weetabix that would make 3 b choices

if spagetti is the pasta type then i would have said this day works perfectly for a "green" if you had a weighed amount of lamb

hope i havn't confused you too much

Before I got to your posting Mizzy I was thinking the same, it looks good for a green day, depending upon the amount of lamb on the skewers. I would have thought what Janny has put done as HO Bs would be free on a green day. The meat would be the HO B and if there was more than the amount allowed then the rest would be syns.

    I stand to be corrected.

Your menu sounds good Mizzy, I assume the coleslaw and potato salad will be made with the low syn mayo etc. As a veggie dish you could make a pasta quiche or a frittata.

Now off to do the shopping as our visitors have just left, DH has gone sailing and then I am off to dog agility.

Karen, the pictures of Lily are gorgeous.

Have a good holiday weekend everyone, and will check in later.

    Jill and Brian

either way it's going to be ok Janny

if you count it as an original day the one extra healthy B = 6 syns and you will still be well within your syns for the day but i would have gone green for the day

have you tried making the chips yet Janny?, the're a nice alternative to a jacket spud

Jill, i'm buying in as much as possible, the caterer that i was going to use is booked for the day but is still helping me with some things, so she's going to provide the salads and some desserts, i'm not a coleslaw, potato salad sort of person and the beetroot one is ok for me

    Mizzy

guilty of typing at the same time Janny, yes butternut squash is free on both days[msnsmile]
