There's no MLB team in Orlando (I think Tampa Bay Devil Rays are closest), but the Orlando Rays play in the minor AA league. I think the season finishes late August/early Sept so you should be able to get a game in. Check the website for schedules (I won't bother posting the URL, it'll only get deleted!). There are a lot of minor league teams in Florida
Jacksonville Suns
Orlando Rays
Brevard County Manatees
Charlotte Rangers
Clearwater Phillies
Daytona Cubs
Dunedin Blue Jays
Fort Myers Miracle
Jupiter Hammerheads
Kissimmee Cobras
Lakeland Tigers
St. Lucie Mets
St. Petersburg Devil Rays
Sarasota Red Sox
Tampa Yankees
Vero Beach Dodgers
Have you or the gf been to a baseball game? It's pretty boring unless you understand the rules and subtleties quite well. A bit like when foreigners watch cricket![]()

thanks for your reply.
my gf's right into it strange i know, she stays up till early morning to catch the games when she can.
great help cheers
We went to a baseball game last August to see the Tampa Bay Devil Rays play the New York Yankees. We had a basic understanding of the rules before going to the stadium at St Petersburg. We had a great time and found it much more interesting 'live' rather than on TV - more to watch, see and join in with. The game we saw was the third game of three. Both teams had won one game each and we saw Tampa Rays win the final game. Our daughters thoroughly enjoyed themselves and there was a great friendly, family atmosphere.
I've looked up the schedules for our visit this August and it doesn't look like we can get tickets to fit our requirements. However, we all want to go again and will check the schedules out next year too.
Our son plays in Little League baseball and we're planning to take him to see the Rays on July 4th. We thought it would be nice to do something really "American" on that day.

Hi Hemtt
On our first visit to Orlando back in 2003, we went to watch a Baseball game at the Disney Wide World of Sport. We sore it adveretised while we were driving past one day and thought that would be a good experience.
Its not major league I beleive its the level below and the games are to a very high standard. There was a good crowd watching and we throughly enjoyed the game.
Check out the link for the up and coming games

You can use your Disney passes to get in and there are lots of eating and drinks places in the arena
Hope this helps

There is spring training in the Wide World of Sports with the Atlanta Braves, We went out in March and saw them play. This was close to the end of the training and the new season started in Mid April I think. Then you will have to go to Tampa and see the Devil Rays
Take Sniff's advise and go to a minor league game. They tend to have a better, more relaxed atmosphere.
I've seen major and minor games and by far prefer the smaller games. It seems to me the players put in more effort and the crowds are very dedicated.
The smaller teams are what's called 'farm teams' for the major clubs. That means the teams are part of a major team's organisation. The players are on contract with a major team but are 'sent to the minors' to improve so when it's their time to step up they are ready for the big leagues. Interesting system.
Also tickets are easier to get.
Great fun.
