Active X control on this site

I am trying to read a DM (reply to a mail I sent to Martin) but when I log in I get a 'Windows' message telling me to 'Click here to run Active X control on this site'. When I do I then get another message saying that the window will close due to an error -'send error report' or 'not'. Whichever option I chose the window then just closes and I'm back to square one.
Yet I was on ealier to send DM to martin & had no problems - so seems to be related to accessing my 'inbox' on the forum.

    Any ideas?

    Alan

The same thing happens to me whenever I have to access my inbox on the forums.

The only way I can get round it is to go into Internet Options and clear the Temporary internet files and also delete the cookies.

    Hope this helps

    Michelle

We do not use any ActiveX on any of our sites so it has to be to do with your browser. We've found that clearing your cookies as suggested above fixes the problem.

Tried the above - but as soon as I try to log in I still get the same error.
Strange thing is when I open the forum page my user name is showing as an 'online' member - but I am not actually logged on. If I try to (for example) look at another member's profile the system tells me I am not logged on!

Can any 'administrator' completely log me out?

Try removing all cookies, re-starting your PC and then see how you get on as cookies can remain even if you delete them unless you re-start your PC.

also had the same problem a few months ago

when receiving dm's tried to access message and internet explorer closing down

the only way i could receive message was to access site through opera/firefox sites

just recieved dm today with the active x request as above but this time could at least access my dm

so as suggested above cleared cookies, shut down my computer on restarting sent a dm to myself to test system

again received active x panel [msnscared]

It must be a bug in IE as we definitely do not use any ActiveX on any of our sites - I know because I wrote them all [msnwink]
