    Extra Luggage

Hi, I am currently in Florida and have seen something in the Disney Store that I'd like to bring back with me to the UK - but it weighs quite a bit (possibly 10kg) and is fragile. Is it possible to bring this back with my airline (MyTravel)? any idea of cost and whether this would be transported safely? Has anyone done this before? Any help much appreciated. Many Thanks.

As you are with my Travel you are flying back from Sanford, just a word of warning the flight I caught 2 weeks ago charged everyone on the flight who had extra luggage even those with 1 kg over, I can’t find my receipt for my extra weight but I think it was $70 for an extra 5 KG This is just a guide line for you. Does your insurance cover this item, as it is fragile if it was damaged in transit? I have not brought back anything that will not fit in my suitcase on a charter flight can’t help you but I am sure somebody will.

Im sure you can only carry 5kgs or less in hand luggage. If it was fragile then i personally would not be happy with putting in my case.

I would ask the store to pack it well, and if necessary buy extra packaging to protect it. Send it as a single item marked as fragile and be prepared to pay excess baggage.........I suppose it depends how much you want it[msnwink]

The airlines have all got very tight on this lately. to me it's just another money making scheme for them.

They are very likely to charge you, so as Liz says you will have to consider how much you want it.

Assuming that you havent bought it yet I would consider buying it with a credit card as most of these automatically cover you for loss or damaged purchases. We bought all of our important stuff with our AmEx card for this reason.
What I would also do is buy a separate case/holdall and maybe half a dozen cheap towels (Disney ones of course) and really pad it out. Bubble wrap from walmart might also be worth thinking about.

If it is not too large and a couple of you show you have no hand luggage at all, then if you get someone nice, they may let you take it as hand luggage
