    March 2007 any help appreciated

    Hi All,

I am planning a trip for March 2007 and would really like to hear from people who have been at this time of year in the past. Is everything open? What is the weather like? Are the parks quieter? Etc

I have only been in August previously so would like info on March time before I confirm everything.

Also my passport is due to be renewed will I now get a new biometric passport? And if not will I need to get visas for everyone?

Look forward to all the replies and thanks in advance.

    Hi Graeme

We went in March this year (April/May last year). We found that everything was open although some of the parks had small areas closed for refurbishment. Universal Studios have their Mardi Gras at that time of year so it might be worth considering.

The weather was great in the day but did cool down on the evenings. However, at the time we were there the weather channels reported that the temperatures were unusually low for Florida at that time of the year so maybe we were just unlucky. Not that we minded it being cool on the evenings as the days were always warm.

    Hope this helps

My husband and I usually plan our "make, do and mend trips for March each year as the weather is uaually warm enough to work in but not too hot. Of course, weather doesnt come with guarantees so it is always pot luck. The parks are open and usually quiet, it does depend on when Easter falls obviously as they are always full then.

Re your passport, at the moment it is arbitrary whether you get a biometric passport of regular but the are hoping to process them all as biometric by later in the year. I woudl recommend renewing now anyway as you can get up to 9 months credit from your old one added to your new one so shouldnt lose any of it's availability but means as things stand if its renewed before Oct 26th this year then you will have 10 years + existing credit before you need to worry about getting another one or if you need a visa if they can't fulfill the deadline for biometric.

    Hi

I went in March 2002 and it was really nice. The weather was very warm to hot during the day and a bit cooler in the evening which was great for cooling down. Everything was open and the parks were quieter than summer time but I remember its their spring break around this time and it can be really busy then. I think its a nice time to go but hey! so is any other month!

As for your passports you will get the biometric one when you renew them. Most people travel on the visa waiver scheme but if any of your party dont qualify then they have to apply for a visa.

We've been out at this time of year for the past few years. Lovely and sunny during the day, very little rain. Early in March worthwhile taking a jumper if staying out late, but not required the closer it gets to April. However, you may want to consider pool heat, as you'll find most pools without some form of heating will be decidely nippy.

Outside of Easter, the theme parks are not crowded and wait times are generally short. You will find that they do shut earlier than in August.

Getting a new passport now will have the new bits you require for the next 10 years to get into the US.

We have been in March before and yes everything is open. In fact you would hard pushed to find anywhere that closes for the winter period as Florida is an all year round resort.
You should have tempertures around the mid 70s for early March and low 80s towards the end.
The parks are normally less crowded in March unless Easter falls in March but this is not the case for 2007

We love that time of year - the weather is warm but not the intense heat of the summer months.

"As for your passports you will get the biometric one when you renew them. "

I personally wouldnt rely on getting one until it is announced that ALL new passports will be biometric. This is the UK passport agency info at the moment. My daughters runs out in July next year but we intend renewing hers in Sept this year after our trip to be on the safe side.

When can I get a new Biometric Passport?
Your current passport will remain valid until its expiry date. You will not need to exchange your passport to a biometric passport. We are planning to introduce the biometric passport gradually over a period of six to nine months in 2006. During the early stages of transition, some people will receive a new biometric passport, but most customers will receive an existing digital passport. Always remember to apply for a new passport in good time as and when your current passport expires. It is best to allow 4-6 weeks for a passport application.

We were out in March the last 3 years, and it is a really lovely time to go to Florida. Great weather, no humidity, we did find the aarks busy leading up to Easter, but atmosphere was fantastic at the Mardi Gras at Universal My daughter just had her passport renewed it is NOT biometric. You will almost always find that something is being refurbished throughout the year , in one park or another, that is how everything is kept in such good condition and so up to date[msnwink] You can usually find out what is likely to be closed, by either checking in on these forums or going to the relevant park web.
