    VERY URGENT

Can't believe I'm off to the US on Thursday and just looked at my passport. It expires on 14 January 2007. Can anyone advise me if my passport will be valid on Thursday. Do you need 6 months validity on it by the time of your return? I've called the Passport office but they've advised me to call the US Embassy in the morning. Freaking out now. Can anybody help and advise what the current situation is with passports.

    Many thanls[msnoo]

You should be fine, I have had less time on my passport and travelled to the US with no problems

as long as it is valid for 90 days (if travelling on the vwp) there should be no problem.

I would double check with the airline you are travelling with as some of them still insist on the 6 month requirement even though it has been relaxed by the US GOvernment. Another guest asked recently and checked with the airline who insisted she would not be allowed to board (the airlines get fined if the passengers are denied entry). It was only after they contacted their head office who confirmed with the US Embassy that it was changed and then changed their website.

I'll try and find the link to the US one so you can take a print out in case there is any query but in theory there shouldnt be.

From my reckoning, you have more than 6 months so should be fine.

Look at the US Embassy website and do a search on this forum.

The requirement for 6 months on a passport has been cancelled and a new regulation is in force. As long as it doesn't expire while you are in the USA you are OK.

Thanks everyone so much for all your replies.

Robert, after trawling through the US Embassy website, which is hard going, I eventually found the thread confirming that the 6 months requirement is now waived.

    Huge relief.

    Kind regards

    Ann-Marie
