Oh what a time I've had.
We flew from Liverpool at 7.00am yesterday morning and were in Dublin city centre at around 8.00am...what a city. I've never been to Ireland before but I am going back with my husband for a weekend in September. The city is lovely and the weather couldn't have been better. The Irish people couldn’t have been any more welcoming.
We went on the city tour bus and looked around all the lovely buildings, the driver was great and singing lot of little Irish numbers along our way. Didn’t go to the Guinness factory this time though.
We then hit Temple Bar, though I didn’t have anything stronger than water then we had a meal…back to a bar before the walk up to Croke Park we were shown the way by a 15 year old boy who certainly had lots of charm, he took us all the way to the stadium.
At the stadium we asked the way to our seats and were told to go straight to the top, after being up since 4am I felt like I walked up a million steps my legs felt like lead by the time we got to the last flight. I don’t know what this stadium is used for but it is massive.
We found our seats and sat eagerly anticipating our evening’s entertainment.
The Beautiful South was the warm up act and they were fantastic.
Now was the time for the Man himself, fireworks and flames of fire started the show and Robbie came up through the floor of a little stage set amongst the crowd, the place erupted. Robbie, true to form was his usually cocky self and had the audience going wild. He sang a few of his new songs but mainly older ones and we all sang along. Jonathon Wilkes came on to sing Me and My Shadow; all too soon the show was ending.
I don’t know if this will happen but at the end Robbie said some of the show props didn’t work and he felt he didn’t give the show he wanted to...............the audience didn’t agree! Anyway Robbie said he is coming back to Dublin before the end of the year to give a free show for all who were there last night…watch this space!
Leaving the stadium with 89,999 was very daunting and everyone headed back for the city centre. The centre was absolutely heaving at 1am, I haven't been to New York yet but my friend who has says it was like walking in New York in the day time.
As we had nowhere to stay and after such a long day we had a quick bit to eat in McDonalds before heading back to the airport. There were many people in the same position as us…no rooms to be had............and the airport was full of sleeping bodies.
I got home at 8.45am feeling exhausted, got loads of blisters on my feet............can’t wait to do it all again.
