    Sanford Airport ATM

We are flying into Sanford for the first time on 10th June (can't wait[clap]) and was wondering if (and if so where) they have ATM machines at the airport? I'm sure they must but I wanted to confirm as I was planning to not change up any dollars in the UK and just withdraw the cash with my Nationwide Cash card when I land.

I notice there are a few fans of Nationwide accounts and credit cards on this forum, as they don't charge for withdrawals (cash card) or commission(both cash and credit) and so you get a much better rate doing this rather than 'buying' dollars at home.

I don't know if there is an ATM machine but I would be wary of relying on it totally. I don't know if the US ones are more reliable than the ones in the UK but there seems to be a law that says they are only out of order when you desperately need the cash. It might be as well to change just a small amount of money to ensure that you have enough for the toll road. The difference in exchange rates would not cost that much for the peace of mind of knowing you have some ready cash.

Make sure you tell your card company that you are off to the US. A lot of companies are improving their security and they may stop your card if they don't know you are going

I agree with Lynne and would take some dollars with you.

I'm sure I've seen ATMs at Sanford, but I wouldn't rely on them a) being there or b) working when you want them to.
I would certainly take a few dollars to be on the safe side!
If the ATMs don't work, the first problem you might face is toll booths if you go down the 417 from Sanford (unless you go over to the I - 4 of course) [msnsmile2]
I take credit cards and US debit cards with me but still like to have some greenback $s for immediate expenses.

Thanks for the advice. Guess I ought to nip in to the Post Office and get a few $s if only for the tolls.

I keep meaning (but forgetting) to inform the Credit Card company before going on hols, but it is a good tip so thanks for the reminder on that too.

I would be a little careful about using an ATM at Sanford. We used a phone there and it cost us a bomb just to make a connection. You may not be charged by your card company to withdraw but I bet Sanford Airport make a charge.[msnscared]

Sorry to hijack your post but I was wondering. Can you use ATMs in orlando anyway? I was there in 2004 and I remember trying my bank card in the ATM that was in our hotel, it was totally different from our ones and I was that confused and gave up. I remember notifying my bank (before we went) that I may use my card to withdraw some money if I needed it so I know that it should've worked but I couldnt figure it out!!

I agree with Paul, I always buy Travellers cheques, then if the $ is on the up I use my Nationwide Credit card whilst there, and save my travellers cheques for the next visit, if the $ is on the down I use my travellers cheques. Either way I would never want to arrive with no local money.
