Discovery Cove

Some friends have a booking early October to swim with the dolphins.
There is a party of 10 going in but only 6 are doing the swimming.
There will be a 10 month old baby in the party.
They have asked me to find out if there are facilities there to purchase food and drink for the baby as nothing is allowed to be brought in.

When we were at Discovery Cove, some 2 years ago, whilst everything is well organised, don't expect it to be like the other parks with gifts shops and places to eat on every corner.

As I am sure you know, only a certain number of visitors are allowed into the park each day, that way whilst there are still a fair number of people around, it never feels over crowded.

From memory there is only one real place to eat, the cost of which is included within the entrance price. The selection of food on offer was better than most Theme Parks and although we didn't have any children / babies in our party, there were several other couples with young children and they didn't seem to have any issues.

Therefore, assuming that they also weren't alllowed to bring anything in to the park, there must have been a selection of food for the young ones.

If there is any doubt, then it would be worth checking first before you go, but check with them directly, don't go to Seaworld and ask them about Discovery Cove as, even though they are run by the same organisation and no more than a few hundred yards away from each other, the Staff at Seaworld know almost nothing about what goes on at Discovery Cove.

Discovery Cove will also supply Sun Tan Cream / Towels / Snorkels / Life Vests and Lockers, so everything is kept safe and dry, also you get free admisssion into Seaworld with your Discovery Cove Ticket.

All in all, it can seem expensive, but it is an experiance that we will never forget.

Watch out for the cost of the photograghs you can get carried away with the order and get a surprise when you count up the cost.

I had a couple of questions that I needed answering so e-mailed them and got a reply within 10 minutes![8D]

I think it's unlikely they would have accepted your booking with a baby if they didn't have the facilities, but best to check for peace of mind.

We were there yesterday. Fantastic day but you would need to like swimming. People did bring in stuff. We didn't but were fine as kids are older, Suntan cream they supply is Panama Jack factor 30 so you if you want to bring this yourself as they only gave a sample sachet per person. Saw people with own stuff too. Can't wear any jewellery stc. No line for anything except durin a storm and even then no shortage of chairs or anything.
You'll have a great time and I'm sure the baby stuff will be fine.

They give you the sun tan lotion because it is 'dolphin/fish friendly' and you are not allowed to use anything else. When you put it on you will realise that a little goes a very long way - we were a party of five and the allowance that we were given lasted all day without problems. Don't think that you should be advising people to take in their own!! Agree thought that it is a fantastic day!!
