    telephoning UK

I need to phone a UK freephone number beginning 08000 - I know I would usually add international dialling codes and drop the 0 - can't seen to get connected though.

I need to dial from my mobile and know it will cost but it is necessary - does anyone know what numbers I dial.

Jill I would have thought you would have to dial 011 44 800....... but not 100% sure. I am sure someone will say if I am incorrect and give you the right one.

Many freephone numbers are simply not accessible from outside the hosting country (regardless of whether you would be prepared to pay or not). This may be one of them. In such cases if it makes sense to have the service available to users outside the host country, a 'normal' telephone number is usually provided in addition to the freephone number.

If your not outside the UK already then call the 800 number and explain that you need their normal number for calling from abroad.

Most of the telephone banking and similar organisations have a number but do not bother to give it out as they already have a free number.

If you are out of the UK post the 800 number here and I am sure some kind member will post the 'real' number for you.

Sue I had tried as you said as I thought that would work but unfortunately not. Unfortunately I do not have an alternative number.

There must be a regular number as you need one to get a freephone number

I'm sure there is - I just don't have it here with me in Florida and any internet search only provides the freephone one.

Ifyou have the name and address of the company, could try directory enquiries on BT web site Have put the link here for you.
    http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publi...mbers.publisha
The above link should take you right to the page you need, on right hand side can either click onto for residential or Business directory.

Thanks for all your help but the freephone number is not one that I can post - without going into too much detail the matter is a bit too personal - I do have the another number at home but cannot get in touch with anyone at the minute.

I have had to deal with the issue by email and hopefully it will be sorted out that way.

Thanks for your help - I will know in future to make sure I have all telephone numbers I need with me!
