this surprised us on our first visit, driving to the shop even for a few items seemed strange

but it is sooo easy to get carried away whilst in the said shops[msneek][msnembarrased] and then the car becomes a piece of magic all on it's own[msnwink]

Silver Creek has a Winn Dixie one mile away but as others say, fine to walk to but not so good for walking back as we nearly always buy more than planned.

To walk to shops is unheard of - to drop wife off at shops for day, and enjoy peace and quiet is a popular one
We all have shops and stores that are well within walking distance, but only English people think to do it When we are driving back to our villa, we often " spot the English" walking back from our local shops -enjoy the floridian way of life - drive, shop, eat, relax have fun

Driving in Florida is a far easier place to drive than the UK especially around London or any other major city.

Personally I only know of 1 person that I have ever met that has been to Florida or anyone who has ever rented off me in the past 4 years that haven't driven so I would have to say that those that don't drive are a very small minority. And at about £200 for 2 weeks car hire it is not expensive and far more convenient than waiting around for any other form of transport.

Thanks for all the replies, Lake Wilson Preserve sounds promising.
