As above I would recommend the international money order from your bank (about £7), works like a bankers draft but in US dollars, alternatively use the credit card option as both are secure.

Obviously credit card is easiest, safest, best rate etc.

However I assumed that Bernie was paying rent to a US owner who very probably did not have VISA/Mastercard facilities.
