xe.com are showing 1.99 today as I get a daily e-mail with the exchange rate. But that is the Market rate, last thursday I sent money over via Xe.com and got $1.967

Almost $2.02 yesterday. Best (or worst if you see it that way) for 26 years.

I'm seriously tempted to cash in a load of shares and buy some dollars for next year - but as the shares will be sold in dollars, then converted to pounds, any change in the exchange rate will be balanced out - or at least that's how I see it.
Is it this simple or am I missing something?

Visa rate for credit card transactions is £2.02 today. Use fee free card such as Nationwide and that's what you'll get on purchases.
