My first flights with Delta via Atlanta

Well I just returned yesterday from a quick trip out to the villa.

It was very last minute and mainly to go out and do a few jobs at the villa as we are now booked up through to November.
With it being last minute I looked around and got a good deal for myself, my 17 year old and 9 year old flying from Gatwick with Delta via Atlanta.

I have only flown with Virgin ( and enjoy flying Virgin) and various charter companies before and I do have to say that Delta were excellent and exceeded my expectations.

Nothing was too much trouble for their cabin crew, yes they are older than the virign cabin crew but to me that was a bonus they were so polite and helpful. The food was great, they came round offering soft drinks all the time and cleared away the 'trash' all of the time unlike Virgin who seem to leave it with you forever!

We had a 3 hour gap at Atlanta and I thought I would need the full amount of time having heard a few stories about Atlanta's immigration but it was really quick, through immigration, customs and over at the next gate within 1 hour. That gave us plently of time for the children to grab a Pizza Hut and then off to Orlando.
it was the first time that I had also flown indirect and I would do it again without a second thought.
The flights home were just as good and I will certainly be looking at Delta flights in the future - hopefully from Manchester but if not Gatwick.

    Great news Michelle.
We flew indirect for the first time last year, with US airways and were suitably impressed.

We often fly indirect and find that the American carriers are great! Customer service standards do seem to be much higher!

Also - the arrivals process at Orlando is so much quicker when you arrive on an internal flight.

We have also been travelling with Delta for several years and have been very impressed with the service. As well as joining the sky miles scheme we both have MBNA Delta Visa cards which gives sky miles and nearly have enough miles for a round the world trip

Mo I joined the sky miles scheme this time so I will start saving these miles now. At the moment I have a Virgin Credit Card and already have enough miles for a free Premium Economy return flight but it is difficult leaving a the children in economy by themselves - no matter how much I would like to [msnwink]

Mike has booked a flight later in the year when he goes out for a boys weeks of golf and a few days in the 'Key's' using his Virgin Miles and has just had to pay approx £120 for Premium Economy Return flight - which is great.
